No, you're right this time.

It's just the feed and the compression more than anything else. Unfortunately cable companies over-compress most signals.

I'm actually west of Milwaukee in a little town, but I work in Milwaukee. Is it maybe Racine? That's pretty large (and a bit south of here, depending on your outlook).

You had me all . I was like... "surely not DK!"

thats called macro-blocking and is caused because of compression.

so the whole "120hz thing for sports" is pretty much a marketing ploy?

I have 60hz and have never seen one bit of pixelation even in super fast action during live events aside from the compression you mentioned. I have looked very hard to find since buying the set because that was a big concern for me as the guy selling the tv kept pushing it

Well, yes and no. You're trying to reduce motion blur with a faster refresh- images stay on the screen for less time and thus there's less ghosting/blurring. Look for that instead of pixellation/compression. Compression is the macroblocking described above. 120hz is meant for ghosting and for proper resolution of 24p sources, like BD's.

you may not even notice it until you see a 120hz set in action.

I saw a few 120 hz in the stores. luckily I have the short term memory of a gnat so I won't feel too bad when comparing the two.

I hate the term "ignorance is bliss" but in this case it truly might be. why torture myself with something that might be better when I have no intention of upgrading anytime soon and I'm very happy with my current set when I view it in my house.

y'know, when I think about it I ***** a lot about watching SD channels with my wife but if I watch it for a few minutes I tend to kinda "adjust" and accept/forget the SD...until I switch to an HD channel that is. then I'm like "damn you charter cable for not having this channel in H Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!"
