OK IF as i understand you are blaming Amazon for this huge BD sales.

1st let's discuss this what does mean:MORE BLU_RAY outthere are buying and looking forward to catch titles once there is a special prices discount

which conclude that blu-ray fans are there to caught titles whenever they want and got bigger day after day

Second what do you think about Departed and casino Royale done without a single discount and especially Departed which sales up to 50% percent more than HD-DVD what does single statement prove ,we conclude BD is superior as a future format not only this but also means one thing BD fans are bigger enough to accomodate this format .

now you are telling me HD-DVD counterpart was decreasing in sale because of $5 difference between BD and HD-DVD in departed release,I can conclude here if you are a HD-DVD fan and are bigger enough outthere they will buy it whatever the case is but this single title leads to conclude that HD-DVD is bleeding but Some Studios still keeping it alive...Due to what happens lately and done by Warner specifically.

BD is not narrowing and you did not see the sales increasing and keep increasing let's wait and not judge ourselves by this single AMAZON website we have different merchandise where we can buy titles from them and once the figures are up to dated and ready to be released to public then we can judge who is better or not..........BD will keep outselling HD-DVD even when there is some decreasing or increasing in BD.

Competition is great to a point. Where competitors can co-exist, it's great. When one competitor vanishes not so great. For some reason incompatible consoles have been able to survive even thrive albeit only a few. There is still an issue when a game is released for one platform and not another. With movies for some reason the market will only tolerate one format. The HD market is being stunted by many savvy purchasers waiting for the market to shake itself out. At the same time bypassing much of the angst of the early adopters. I don't really see HD-DVD and Blu-ray as competitors, rivals yes - but with competition if you get sick of one you go elsewhere. Once you have bought a number of discs of one format, it's expensive and difficult to change to another format. Many here would find replacing the player the cheapest part (and they will within the next 2 years). To replace their disc collection would be an expensive exercise. Competition within the format is GREAT bring it on, at least you can with Blu-ray.

Well according to report at High Def Digest the numbers are in for Casino Royale (100,000 disc sales) We are indeed selling at a 9-1 rate at this period. With Happy Feet coming tomorrow and a void of releases on HD Dead you just know they will sell alot of movies. They seem to think that they will outsell the Blu market because the people who own PS3's are not into this type of movie. Lets prove them wrong. Another strong sales for this title will be positive proof that we are the dominate format and show Universal what they are missing.

Default This is what vidiophile is referring to

videophile is probably referring to this link: http://www.hdgamedb.com/amazon/versus.aspx
The link updates so it can change. He is right. Without going into what the link means, the margin has narrowed in the last week with matrix appearing and casino falling. I was surprised to see so many hostile responses to his question.

I agree with you except for one thing: Format wars never have been about better products or about "the consumer."

This is most certainly a case in point now. This charade is nothing more than MS deliberately trying to keep the market split up. They want everyone to bow out their altar for digital downloads. They want optical formats/medium to fail.

HD-DVD is arguably the biggest sham to ever come along in consumer electronics, at least in modern time.

Animosity rightfully comes in when people get sick and tired of seeing/hearing/reading outright lies and misinformation.

Default Say it aint so Joe

I have beeen closely watching the BD vs. HD-DVD sales for some time now. Just as I was cheering that BD was outselling HD-DVD two to one, I find out they are neck and neck and BD is slightly behind as of right now.

UGGGGHH!!!!

It looks like both formats are going to be around for quite a while. I want Universal titles on BD for crying out loud.

I'm not Joe, but I'll say it ain't so until one comes along.

Where did you get the idea they are neck and neck? The latest numbers had BD winning the week (Pirates movies v. The Matrix) 69% - 31%

Actually, my name is Joe, so I can say it ain't so...

"It ain't so."

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD have not been neck and neck since 2006. The gap has actually continued to widen in favor of Blu-Ray. It's still a 2:1 ratio and growing.

I don't see HD-DVD gaining anywhere. Actually the opposite.

A lot of stores are already starting to phase out HD-DVD. All of my local BB’s have recently doubled the size of their Blu-ray section and shrunken the HD-DVD section. Almost all of the electronic stores in my area are doing the same right now. Amazon is the only place when these people can buy their movies anymore.

I think this is an excellent observation! I knew amazon's stats weren't too definitive (they only reflect amazon's sales), but I think you've got something here. The harder it is to find movies on HD-DVD, the better sales will be at those few places that actually sell them! Common sense, but I guess I didn't think of it that way.

Combined with this and the release of heroes, PE, and matrix to boost their numbers slightly.

Amazon's numbers lose credibility because it's know that they are easily manipulated.

You would have to be really stupid to even think that things are neck and neck. What did you do? Avoid reading all the other posts about sales numbers and make this silly thread.

If things are neck and neck than a pig and a giraffe are both the same size. A pig (being HDDUD) and a giraffe (being BR) can be neck and neck but we still know who's really ahead.
