I doubt this is a bootleg. I suspect it is an intentional part of a viral marketing campaign.

That being said, I saw waaaay too much GCI.

This is not a thread crap: I have not watch much Star Trek in my life, but after watching the new trailer and seeing some old episodes on tv, I want to know why you like it? I don't find it that interesting, but alot of people do, so I was wondering why?

Looks corny as hell. And that's saying something considering the Original Series.

And with reports of Kirk running around with comicly puffy hands in the film... yeaaaaaah.

You probably go to a crappy theater. Some towns don't have good theaters. The Theater I go to is better then any HT i've ever seen. Even better then alot that are on this site.

nope. ive been to good ones. i just dont see spending a fortune to see a movie (crappy or not) when i can own it for less. after all, this is why i have my set up. not too mention a lot of people are rude and annoying and customer service is pretty much extinct. just got tired of it. im happy in my cave

I think that nothing beats a theater with good image quality and incredible sound when your going to see an action movie. The theater I go to opened last year and has incredible Klipsch sound.

I've never been a big Star Trek fan but I do really like the cast they put together and will probably see this when it hits.

This movie has an uphill road to climb. It seems that most people either lover Trek or hate it and with this reboot some "purists" may reject it. I'm excited to see what JJ Abrams has done here.

You're not the only one. I may have only been a casual Trek fan (more of a Sci-Fi fan than Trek fan) I am very excited to see this. I'm hoping that Abrams can do for Trek what Nolan did for Batman

I am a star trek fan, but this looks stupid. Star trek has never been about the intense action film. The trailer looks more like this is Die Hard 5.

I'm wondering, would you rather make some concessions (like more action oriented for example) in order for the the Trek saga to live on? I think that the reason we haven't seen anything for so long is it hasn't been financially viable. Here's an interesting take from Nikki Finke:

Quote:
I've been skeptical, but this Star Trek XI trailer looks intriguing. And, most importantly, mainstream. Maybe J.J. Abrams has pulled a Chris Nolan and reimagined a stale franchise. But Star Trek has failed to ever do much internationally. Which is why JJ and studio vice chairman Rob Moore are just finishing a road show sharing 25 minutes of footage territory by territory this past week in the UK, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy, I've learned, and receiving "extraordinary" response. That has Paramount feeling optimistic about Star Trek XI's overseas prospects since "building what has traditionally been a primarily U.S. franchise into a global one" are key to the franchise's future. Hollywood knows there's just no economy of scale anymore for a big budget domestic-only hit. On Wednesday afternoon, the studio is unveiling this same 25 minutes of the movie at a private screening on the lot for selected opinion-makers. A revitalized Star Trek would give Brad Grey and Rob Moore a 3rd big new franchise in addition to Transformers and G.I. Joe. No other studio can boast that right now. Will the Paramount pinheads have the last laugh?

And I don't know where exactly the "desert racing cliffs" were supposed to take place, but when did young Kirk move away from Iowa?...

(And we're hoping they'll get at least ONE reference to Finnegan back into Jimmy-boy's academy days...)

every person ive talked to who grew up watching the tv show said this trailer looked like a cgi crapfest. i'm still indifferent, i'll probably see it in theaters cuz it looks entertaining enough. also, what do people expect? for abrams to go with the same models and sets used in the 70s? that would look terrible now.

It does look way way CGI heavy, but the Star Trek franchise is dead. If this movie can reboot it, ala Batman Begins, that's a good thing. I don't care if it's different, so long as it's good. I keep in mind though that all that action they throw at you in the trailer could be within 5 minutes of the movie, assuming that's the entire movie is pretty presumptuous. I do prefer it when my trailers show more character though, ala LOTR.

You're not alone. I've enjoyed the movies and each of the five series (DS9 was my favorite), even Enterprise which got infinitely better in it's last season. I am very excited to see this movie, it manages to look classic and new at the same time.

I am going to give it a good shake at the movie theater. The trailer made it look like they pretty much re-wrote everything to do with the original series, but if it can bring it back to the TV or big screen, I'm for it.
