I order alphabetically by number. The numbered one's go first on my shelf, in order, then the abc's. I place all batman movies under "B", so TDK will come after Batman Begins, etc. In case of a sequel or prequel, I order those how the would occur in the movie world, ie. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning comes before the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake) on my shelf even though it was released at a later date. And the origional comes before the remake on my shelf. Night Watch comes before Day Watch in the "W" section.... Yes, I have been called Anal before.

I only have five Blu-rays, so I just stack them on my TV stand in any order.

My dvd's are ordered by director/favorites & my blu rays aren't quite at the level where I can sort them by director so I have my favorites together.

I do a basic sort based on target audience in the house and then use various sub-categories themes..

kids movies at the bottom, sub sorted into things like Disney (THAT takes space I'll tell ya) which gets divided into classic cartoons, modern cartoons, Pixar and then other misc movies, Dreamworks has a shelf, Star Wars, then a lot of miscellaneous areas.. dinosaurs, animation, veggietales etc..

Wife has a small area for her movies, no sorting other than I want that goopy stuff away from my stuff Another small shelf for movies we both like, and then there's my stuff on the higher shelves, sorted by theme.. superhero movies together, action movies, James Bond has it's own exclusive space, classics, sports & concerts together. Blus & steelbooks have their own small space as well, only Bond blus are intermingled..

Don't know why, but that's how I likes it

I sort mine in whatever order I want. I tend to keep my slip covered movies together though. I have no rules though.

I just recently went from having them in genre shelves to having them alphabetically. I do keep all prequels/sequels together though. I have PS3 games on their own shelf as well as some dvd's on their own shelf. On top of the shelves I have some big boxsets of some of my favorite movies displayed.

1. Movies A-Z (all the Bonds are sorted under "B" for Bond)
2. Movies Box Sets A-Z
3. TV Action/Adventure/Drama A-Z
4. TV Comedy A-Z
5. TV Sci-Fi/Horror A-Z
6. Documentaries/Music/General Interest A-Z

Any titles starting with a number, e.g. "2001" or "The 13th Warrior" come at the start of the appropriate category.

I don't have enough BDs yet to flesh out this method but this is how my 1500+ DVDs are currently sorted.

I have a small collection, it's in the order I got them in, though I'll definitely change it once my collection begins to become larger in a couple years.

Alphabetically for me too, with 0-9 first i.e. 2001: A Space Odyssey Then I arrange films of a series together. Will probably arrange my collection into separate genres when I have as many Blu's as I do DVDs.
