condo is pretty much the same as apartment, except that you own it.

2)this is just a bad poll. When you want to make a poll the first question is to ask your self what you want to find out. If it is how independent someone is then how do you get it from this poll? is one more independent because they live in a home or an apartment? I had a friend that moved here for work and for th first year he rented a house while getting established. You are also missing a lot. Is a condo a house or an apartment? if you live with your parents but not in the basement what do you pick? if someone is living with an other relative but not a parent (when studying I had a friend that was living with an uncle because his uncle lived in Montreal near the school but his parents in an other city). If it was "independence" then if parent is paying for the apartment how is that better then a kid that is paying rent for the basement?....

if it is the type of building then trailer, boat, house (single dwelling), apartment/condo (multiple household dwelling) and car would cover everything

I'm living in a rented house, and working on fixing up a House we purchased (in sig)

Renting has upsides, but so does owning.... although I don't recommend doing both at the same time
