Congrats and welcome to Blu!

I have seen people having issues with the S300 playing Wall-E and other movies. Will this be a problem with this player? Does this have to do the fact that the S300 doesn't have BD Live?

I picked the S350 primarily due to the fact that it has ethernet as well as BD Live. I also didn't like the noise factor of the PS3, even though thats a great system.
Congrats to you, too!

It's so great to see the "Blu family" expand.

Welcome and congratulations on the new BDP.

What TV are you getting? If it is going to have HDMI connections then I would prolly only buy HDMI cables. Do you have a receiver... does it have HDMI connections? BTW if you don't have a receiver and speakers then I think I know what you are getting when tax returns come back... HAHAHA.

I'm getting one of these TV's depending on the cost. (I like them both)

Sharp LC-52sb55u 52"
or
Samsung 550 52"

Both look really nice and both have extensive options. I will be hooking up through HDMI.. I will also need a DVI to HDMI cable anyways, because I'm going to be hooking up my Computer to my TV as well. (my computer has dual DVI outputs.)

As far as sound is concerned I will be happy with just a plain old 5.1 surround sound as I personally don't care about sound so much. (I used to have hearing problems when I was younger and now at the age of 20 Everything sounds about the same.)

For about 3 or 4 months I will only be having digital TV, blu-ray, Nintendo Wii, and my computer hooked up to it. After 3 or 4 months I will be getting HDTV through Charter Communications. Until then Its gonna be a lot of Crysis, COD4, COD5 World At War, Trackmainia, and WOW(All PC games on high settings). Also getting a bunch of games for the Wii so this year is gonna be awesome. (I'm a huge gamer; So I decided to get an LCD rather than a Plasma.. I was going to get the 60" mitsu DLP but my GF who is paying for the majority of the TV doesn't like the sloped back of the TV (I know silly reason but gotta keep the misses happy.) )

So I will need (1) 10-12 feet DVI-HDMI cable, (1) 6ft HDMI cable, and The equivalent Wii cable (component I'm guessing.).

Sharps are nice, but I would tell you to get the Samsung. Better blacks, color reproduction is about the same though. I played with a Sharp Aquos, and was not overly impressed. Blacks tended to be a little gray.

hmm.. most of the aquos I would have to agree with you... but I played around with this TV a lot.. and the darks were actually better than the samsung... Colors were about the same... One thing I noticed was the gradients on the sharp were smooth while the gradients on the samsung were choppy. The only deciding factors are the price, customer service, and brand name pride. I don't care about brand name.. so thats out the of the deciding factors... customer service.. I havent had to deal with samsung customer service nor sharp so its a toss up.. heard more horror stories about samsung but then again I would assume more people have samsungs... So price is the huge factor.. If i can get the sharp for 1299 I will go for the sharp.

Sorry for the double post but its also a bump.

I found some old RCA cables and hooked it up to my standard 20" Sansui TV. It is running at 480I right now with a standard DVD and it looks better than my PS2.. I didn't expect this because its running at the same format that the PS2 would run..

Also is my s350 supposed to be extremely fast at loading? I put the DVD in and less than a second it loaded.. It pretty much loaded instantly.. none of the other blu-ray players at the stores I looked at did that.. they took at least a few seconds.

BTW it was setup for HD mode so it wouldn't appear on my TV.. I couldn't change it in the menu because I couldn't see the menu.. so I found out if you hold the stop button on the blu-ray player itself for 10 seconds it resets to the lowest resolution possible. It could be a real life saver to some people.

I just bought one of these players for my grandfather on Thursday. I also went to Kmart and they were sold out, so I took the ad to Walmart and they actually matched the price. Great player, except we have a slight problem with the HDMI sending audio to the TV while using the Optical out to his receiver.
