I would love to see the "Alien" franchise go back to its roots.

One of the storylines the series never addressed dates all the way back to the first movie: What was the Space Jockey? Where did it come from? Did it come from the same place as the alien species? Or did they come from different worlds?

I always wished the series would do an origin story: go the alien/Space Jockey homeworld. Maybe do a prequel or something. It can't be any worse than "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem." That movie is, for me, the worst movie in the franchise.

Aliens and Terminator 2 are more entertaining and better-paced movies than Alien and T1. It's fine if you like the originals better but they aren't really better movies other than the initial wow factor any first movie in a series has.

I respectfully disagree as I personally prefer and respond to the atmospheric horror of "Alien" more so than the all-out action theatrics of "Aliens." Both are very fine films but I personally find the first to be a bit better than the latter.

Perhaps some series just deserve to stay in the past and at rest.

Agreed. Alien was the best of the series.

If you're going to redo it, start from scratch. Alien Resurrection made me eyes bleed.

I'd rather catch a scorching case of herpes than have to watch that vomit party again.

Even if they would completely ignore the fourth as if it never existed and just continued on I don't see how Ripley could have survived the firey pit (not to mention the alien baby bursting out of her stomach) she back-dived into in the conclusion of "Alien 3" in a believable-enough of a way.

I (again) say it probably should remain, unfortunately, over. It certainly is not the first series to end unsatisfying or come to an abrupt/unresolved-hault.

It seems dated.

My second favorite, and I know I'm in a minority here, is actually Alien 3. I think its unrelenting bleakness of tone is admirable, and a work of art in its own way.

Alien Resurrection was hilarious. Unfortunately not intentionally.
Aliens is much more than a action ride. Aliens happens to have an extremley tense atmosphere. The scene where the power gets cut and you know their coming is just as gripping as anything in Aliens. Cheesey dialouge? Really? Ok I'll give you "game over man!" but that's about it. Ripley and Hicks were the emotional drive by the way. Did you see the extended cut?

Default Alien 5? Or 6?

If they are going to continue the franchise, then ONLY James Cameron or Ridley Scott may direct. If not, expect failure.

Also...they need to get their act together SOON. Sigorney (sp?) Weaver isn't getting any younger, if she is still going to believable as a bad-a$$!

Or maybe this is telling us that we should leave the now-classic Alien saga ALONE and just concentrate on getting it released on Blu-Ray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
