I got the same thing that happened to me so I took that junk back to Target where I should have left it and bought a phillips unit that actually worked and only paid $50.00 more.

Post Olevia BDP-110 Firmware Upgrade

Hello.

A new firmware update was released Jan 28th I think that fixed the problem with Fox blu-ray titles. I downloaded it and burned the ISO. image files to disc. I was able to update the firmware of the machine. I've since bought Horton hears a Who and it played on my olevia without any problems. It shows beautifully. So, for any who needs to update your player go to the support website. olevia.supportsync.com burn the firmware update to a disc and you should be good to go.

Default Olevia BDP-100 Blu-Ray Player....Officially Discontinued!

Well, just to verify it, I asked about it at Target, they said it was discontinued. It went on sale for $169.99 on clearance. Wow, the player only came out in October. Most likely they will release a better one. But I got it for $149 on Christmas week. Has been a great player, but slow loading time. But for the price it was a real bargain, and with the updates, all the blu ray discs now play. But yes, it has officially been discontinued.
Well, if any one wants one, its EBAY time

I wonder if it sold enough to make them offer another Bluray player when you factor in the cost of the support. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this player was only available at Target not any other retailer of Olevia brand TV's?

I am very pleased with mine, especially running the memorex FW which solved my biggest problem with it.

updater-100-090121-olevia.iso

That is what the broken link points to.

I had recently reinstalled my OS on my PC but had made a backup disc that I found this Olivea ISO on, so looks as if I do have the V2 ISO and can burn a working updateable CD disc for all who may need it! I will tell you what, if you want a disc to update your player I sponsor an Orphan Girl in the Ukraine and for a minimum of $5. Donation to her through my PayPal account I will burn an updatable copy and mail it to you.
Sixteen year old Nastya has tutoring expenses I am helping to pay to get her up to speed for an Aviation Computer tech class that she will be enrolling in now that she has just graduated from her Orphanage Boarding School!

Seems that the link now works again at the Olevia site:

12 Rounds threw my Olivea through a loop, the previews played fine but the only way I was able to get the movie to play was through the screen selection then the menu will not go away but the movie plays behind it! I have read that this disc has thrown other players like the oppo also! Looks like some good action sure wish I could watch it!

Has anyone been able to get 007 'For your eyes only' to work on this player? How about with the Memorax FW?

Default any new firmware updates?

I just bought Monsters Vs Aliens for my kids and the movie will not play past the initial Dreamworks screen. I have what I believe to be the lastest update and have had no problems with anyother movie. Is there a chance that this could be just a bad disc?

Default Olevia Blu ray BDP-110 firmware update Success

We bought this blu ray player for my dad at target for Christmas and we just now got it updated with the firmware and now are enjoying the high quality of the blu ray discs. I tried before to update it but had failed. I found the hardest part of the update is getting the firmware onto a disc. If anyone wants a copy of the disc that holds the firmware update that was successful for us, please let me know.

Default "Unknown Disc"

If you try loading a new disk and after a minute "Unknown Disc" is displayed, turn the unit off, wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on. Many disks will then load and start playing.

Default It Worked

I actually went through many CD-R s (9!!!) to get it to work. Finally I placed in a CD-R and just copied the files (not the .iso file) the individual files using the Windows XP program. Not Nero, Not Sonic, Not anything out of the ordinary. Didnt finalize it, and what do ya know. The screen went black and the player said it was updating. So keep it simple....just extract the files....put in a CD-R and copy and paste them over and try it. It worked for me.

I downloaded a free file called 7zip using their link. I left it open on my screen then copied the update file to my E drive. The Olevia Blu Ray accepted the update (after twice telling it that I wanted it to do so). It went through all the procedures as listed in the update. My new 007 disc is now playing ok when it had been denied before.

Looks as if the Olivea BD110 is now rebadged as the Element EDBCO11 sold currently only at Office Depot on line and in the stores for $179. I just went in and saw one today which they had two on the shelf. http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...y-Disc-Player/

Elements site:
http://www.elementelectronics.com/pr...1/EDBC011.html

It has the same options as the Olivea and even has an updated Firmware that is listed as “Subversion: BD100-090121-USA” http://www.elementelectronics.com/su...s_blu_ray.html
Olivea's latest update is "100-090121-olevia" http://olevia.supportsync.com/article.aspx?ID=1014
so it sure looks like it's the same player but with a different face which looks pretty good in my opinion, I have not see it powered up but may like it more then the bright blue glowing Olivea's face!

Just thought I would post this info for ya all!

The Element is made by the same OEM, Contel (http://www.conteldigital.com/en/Prod...SortPath=0,131,) that makes the Olevia, Memorex and Curtis Mathes BD players. The Element though uses a different remote then the others, so without a universial remote the Element FW isn't a good bet to use.

Interestingly, the memorex (http://www.memorex.com/support/suppo...d=50719&cid=55) just got a FW update last week of July, so maybe one is on the way for the olevia as well.
