Default Paul Newman Films To Come To Blu-ray?

As the rest of the world, I am mourning the death of a man that is truly a member of all of our families. The man and his talent will be sorely missed...

Right now, the only Paul Newman title on BD is "Cool Hand Luke" ("Cars" if you include voice acting credits). I would hope that there are others due out sooner than later. Tops on my list are "Nobody's Fool" (a lot of it was filmed in my current home of Beacon, NY) and "The Verdict".

Has anyone heard anything on the grapevine about this?

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is out as well. I have both it and Cool Hand Luke.

Thought BCSK sucked in terms of PQ.

I want The Verdict on Blu-Ray from Fox.

The PQ is fine IMO. It isn't the same quality as a 2008 release but I am very happy to have this movie on Blu-ray.

So not great but looks a lot better than the DVD though in your opinion.

Well I don't have the DVD but I can't imagine that the Blu-ray isn't a lot better. There are many scenes with lots of detail while other not so much. Overall it isn't consistent all the way through.

Road To Perdition is at the very top of the list for me. A damn fine film that needs to come out on Blu-ray soon.

I could not agree more. Road to Perdition is in my 3 most wanted along with HEAT & Last of the Mohicans.

The rain scene in RTP is worth the purchase alone. "I'm glad it's you." Simply classic.

I'd like to see this particular Paul Newman film on Blu-ray, the movie that paired him alongside another certain big-screen giant in the form of Steve McQueen back in 1974:

lol - yea, great early 70's semi-cheesy flick sort of (anyone remember these? - Poseidon Adventure, or 1974's "Earthquake" <<--- Anyone remember seeing this in theaters? It was in "SENSURROUND!!!" - lol. I remember the theater seats actually vibrated during the Earthquake scenes. too funny).

Road To Perdition is a Great flick---will be awesome to see/hear on Blu for sure. I could prob. take 10-20 of his best flicks and buy them blind if they came out on Blu-Ray.

Found this on Yahoo: "In 1986, Newman won a special Oscar for his numerous “compelling screen performances.” That same year, he returned to one of his most famous roles – Fast Eddie Felson from “The Hustler” – in a sequel by Martin Scorsese called “The Color of Money.” Newman’s performance all but eclipsed up-and-comer Tom Cruise, leading him to collect his second Oscar in 1987"

That's another one of my fav. Paul Newman roles. It'd be cool on Blu also.
