"right now my tv is in the corner of my room and it faces me at a diagonal. im looking to purchase all new audio, but will the audio not setup right with the tv positioned like that? if that is the case, i think i have to buy a new stand as well"

i posted that in a separate thread, but probably should have put it in here. what do you guys think about that? the tv is not in front of me. its kind of off to the left of me, so will that affect the sound?

i would probably be willing to spend somewhere between $1000-$1500, but over a period of time. definitely not at once because i couldnt afford it. thats why i was planning on doing it bit by bit...

Yeah man, I seriously can "go to a thrice show" anytime I want now because its THAT GOOD! 25 SONGS! GO GET IT...well but you need to get speakers first.

I personally do not like to have a tv in the corner, but if that's what works for the room then it will be fine. In most cases, you can still set the speakers up in the correct position even with the tv in the corner. The most important is going to be the center channel speaker so as long as you have some room either directly above or below your tv for the center channel speaker, then you should be fine.

Not necessarily pushing them, I started with one. They're great starter "set's", as I call 'em. Get up and running as a beginner and see if you like it, see if you catch the bug and then upgrade a little at time. I don't push HTIB's, I just rebel against the notion that HTIB are crap, when they're clearly not. Thus, I loudly express that opinion.

He said he wanted to do this slowly so he is a perfect candidate for a reciever and separate speakers.
+1

Myself and many of us on this forum started out with HTIB and then regretted it. I say building piece by piece is way better. Why waste the money on HTIB now, if in the end you will want something better.

HTiB's are crap, don't buy them. Build it slowly like most people are suggesting. I have a Sony receiver and Sony speakers, MY preference was the Sony 920 over the Onkyo 606, and since there wasn't much difference between the Polk monitor 50 and the Sony F5000 I couldn't justify spending $300 vs $130.

As its been said, I suggest listening to many different speakers and recievers. Its your money and your ears. I would just say have fun going to different store like people are saying and listen to as much as you can and see what you like and what you can afford.
