I don't like the fact that it can't decode DTS HD MA audio (no HDMI 1.3).

I like that it has a very advanced GUI, it can play music from just about any usb device, and it upconverts any analog signal up to 1080p. The sound is marvelous.

Nothing decodes DTS-MA. I'm not even sure DTS themselves can decode DTS-MA.

Hope you have a BA in electronics engineering. Denon's are some of the most user unfriendly gear out there.

I have the Onkyo TX-SR803. I'd recommend the 804. While it can't do true 7.1 thru HDMI (and there's so little out there in PCM 7.1) it's THX certified, user friendly, sounds great, powerful, converts analog video to digital, plenty of inputs, 2 HDMI in - 1 out, 4 optical 2 coaxial, and did I mention user friendly?

I'm familiar with Denon AVR's so no worries there. Plus I've combed over the manual many times in preparation. I will check out that Onkyo as I like to keep my options open.

Do you guys get LPCM sound in games? (not sure if PS3 games even use LPCM).

Can you guys use LPMC surround sound for BD-movies, with your current receiver?

What do you like and what do you dislike of your current receiver?

I am asking because I am planning to buy a new reciever.
Thanks
I got the JVC RXD412B because it was the cheapest HDMI reciever I could find that did everything I wanted. (It's 339.99 from amazon right now with free shipping) It has 2 HDMI inputs, 2 component inputs, 3 digital audio inputs, and I think 4 s-video/composite inputs. Everything can be upconverted and output 1 HDMI to the TV. Right now I have my PS3(hdmi), upconvert dvd player (hdmi), cable box (component vid, toslink audio), and Wii (composite) all hooked to the reciever and 1 hdmi cable to the tv. Only HDMI reciever I could find under $600-700 and I'm happy with it. I handles LPCM audio just fine.

I use a Sony STR-K900 reciever 5 Ch., has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 Output, 2 Component Caple inputs and outputs plus everyother hookup u can think of, it delievers PCM sound, DTS, Dobly Digital Pro Logic II, and Digital Cinema. I have the PS3 and my cable box hooked up to the HDMI inputs and the tv hooked up to the input. I use optical cables (infared) to hook up the sound for each item. It sounds amazing. When playing a PS3 game, it switches to PCM as it says so on the reciever. It flashes on the reciever what the item is using like PCM, Dobly Digital, etc for example. It has auto calibration, so no matter where u place the speakers, it automatically sets each of them to the right volumes and such to give u the best sound when doing whatever. It only cost 300 bucks for the reciever and the speakers came with it. Great deal. Every store I go to, this system is always sold out. I got mine at walmart and it was the last one in the store. Luckily it was an open item, but never taken out of the box since everything in the box was all still factory sealed so I only paid 160 bucks for it. I was a lil suprised and extremley happy, I used the rest of the money to fund some blu rays....lol....if u have any questions about it just ask....I feel bad for the guy above me, cuz he could have saved some money...lol

I had no problems at all with my Denon as far as user friendliness goes and I've never owned one before. I have an Onkyo in my bedroom, and I actually think the Denon is easier to navigate than my Onkyo is.

Onkyo 804 is a great machine, I was truly considering it, but decided to buy Yamaha RXV2700 due to the fact that its a Net reciever and have some additional features (usb connection, more power, one more HDMI in, HDMI version 1.2a and I liked the design better).

I previously had an Onkyo DVD reciever and I was pretty satisfied.

I just got my receiver in. I forgot to take account for this beforehand- Should I pass my cable box through the receiver as well, or is there anything bad about that? I can have all my inputs into my receiver and just pass them through HDMI right?

Right, if your receiver allows that (most likely it will).

Lexicon processor feeding two 5 channel Parasound amplifiers.

No HDMI, using optical right now, but with Lexicon's logic 7 makes me wonder what a true 7.1 would add.

Logic7 is pretty good. But it is still working on lossy audio inputs via optical. So try to imagine 5.1 but BETTER!

I am not sure about that...when I select the 5.1 LPCM sound track the audio bit rate = 4.6Mb/s.

When I select DD, for example, the bit rate drops down to 640Kb/s...that is lossy.
