With blu-ray discs I wouldn't be too worried about buying movies and not liking them. It's not much of a risk because they sell on ebay for about the same price, even used, that they did when you buy them. The key is just to find a good price. So you might lose a couple of dollars but if you rented it, it would be like losing that same amount, so you might as well risk buying it. Oh and by the way yes I buy movies that I havn't seen before, but I like movies as a whole and have over 700, so I'm not too worried.

I do, but I check reviews usually. I may start trying Netflix or BB online to see how it goes though.

Most of my DVD and BD's are blind buys. I rarely go to theaters anymore and I never rent. I have a pretty good feel for which movies are up my alley and I've been happy with most of my purchases.

I have bought a couple of titles...and then sold them on Ebay if I didn't like them. I prefer to go the Netflix route if possible though...

I'm tempted to get Warriors of Heaven and Earth, but I'd probably end up selling that as well.
What didn't you like, the PQ or the flick itself?

I ask because HoFD was notorious on dvd for having major PQ issues due to how it was mastered long before people complained about it on BD. As for the movie itself, it's not Zhang Yimou's best, though not anywhere as bad as his most recent Curse of the Golden Flower which, despite being one of the most incredible pieces of eye candy I've ever seen, was barely watchable due to lack of decent writing and character development.

I won't buy a movie unless I've seen it...People need to pay more attention to the film critics before going to the movies...they walk in the movies pay $75 and come out saying that movie sucked...reading reviews helps alot,I can't beielve the garbage people sit through these days. They don't make them the way they used to.

The Hitch is a pretty funny movie, The Omen is an interesting movie, wasn't as scary as I thought though...

Good to see that I'm not the only one who buys movies unseen I normally sell my HD movies back to Suncoast for $10 or less... I could probably get more seling them on Craigslist or Ebay, guess I'm just lazy to go through the trouble...

I posted a poll at a PS3 fan forum asking people there how often they purchase BD's....

now..mind you...a few trolls could have voted...but there weren't enough votes to gauge much, I still think it's worth posting..

Never, only games. (9) 32.14%
sometimes, I occasionally rent/buy my favorite flicks. (9) 32.14%
Often, I have a few BD's...but am waiting for more releases. (6) 21.43%
I frequently buy or rent BD's and refuse to stop! (4) 14.29%

Sometimes I buy movies that I know nothing about, but usually I check reviews first. If you don't like your movies, you can always trade them here in the trading forum. I have Nacho Libre, Million Dollar Baby, and Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby available for trade.

I usually buy without looking at reviews! I have about 600 DVD's; trying to sell them now.

I buy sight unseen sometimes, and I rent sometimes from Netflix, but it can significantly extend the shipping times (they shipped Million Dollar Baby from Kentucky to Texas) so far I have ended up buying everything I rented except Million Dollar Baby - Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie, with great acting... but it is a tough movie to watch, and even tougher to watch the ending when you know whats coming.

My feelings exactly. I have the best PQ/sound in the neighborhood and many times I'll have a friend show up at the door with some beer in hand looking to watch a movie. Works out great

Action movies are a no-brainer and I buy those regardless of having seen them or not. I do tend to pass on stuff like The Holiday and Volver though.

As far as BD goes I'm a sucker for nature documentaries so I usually buy blind on them, but most other stuff I already own on dvd or have read reviews to the Nth degree on before I buy. DVD's are a whole other matter; I purchase all kinds of weird stuff from Asia in SD having only vague ideas as to what I should expect most of the time.

Nine only. I am also a blind buyer. Some of them I've seem before (for example, Csaino Royale, Rocky Balboa, MI 1 & MI 2) but most of them I just read the introduction shown in the back of the disc. Of course, I will also try to read the review from the magazine.
