Just for clarification, I noticed you mentioned the MVBD2510C firmware in the thread title, but never mentioned the player you had. I assumed you had the MVBD2510 vs. the MVBD2511, but maybe I shouldn't make assumptions and we can rule this out as a potential issue.
I am burning my father in law a disc for his Memorex Bluray update and the statement above concerns me. I'm assuming he has a 2510. When I go on the memorex site they say nothing about a 2511? Is there another model memorex bluray player out there?

The 2511 IS a completely different player than the 2510. The firmwares are not interchangeable.

Finally got mine to update. Followed the instructions above with a firmware update of July 2009. Burned the CD-r with a copy of Toast. Did not work until I finally named the disc with the name from the firmware download - "Mvbd2510c_Firmware_07_20_09"

I was just naming the disc untitled. D'oh!

Default Could you send me the last firmware update

Hi,

I tried to find the firmware updates section in the webpage of memorex but was not successful, so someone of you could send me the last firmware or tell from where I can download it. I really appreciate your time and help, it's because I was unable to run the Xmen: Origins movie.

Thanks for your help.

Default Unlock DVD region on Memorex MVBD2510C

Hello,

I bought the Bluray player Memorex MVBD2510C and it does not play my DVDs in Brasil, only BD.

How can I unlock it for all regions or at least change to my region (4)?

US region = 1.
Brasilīs = 4.

Default More

In addition to the previous posts, I would like to clarify a few points for the mac users using Roxio Toast to burn their discs...

1. I used the Joliet (MS-DOS + Windows) setting (under "Naming")
2. I had to name the disc the same thing as the folder name of the download ( In my case it was "MVBD2510C fw Sept09"
3. Make sure to turn your blu-ray player off and back on again before going through the process (described in previous posts) between each cd attempt IF you make more than one attempt. This is what did the trick for me... the player originally said the disk was not a firmware disc until I took it out, rebooted and tried it again... then BOOM it worked.

As reported elsewhere, the MVBD2510 and other Blu-Ray players are having difficulties with Avatar BD.

I just got off the phone with Memorex support 1-877-363-6673. They are aware of the issue with Avatar Blu-Ray and the fact that LG and Samsung are having similar issues. They opened a support ticket for me and they said they are working on new firmware for the 2510, 2511 and 2520 players.

They didn't know when it will be available online but I will call them in 2 weeks unless it is available by then.

I advise all of you Memorex MVBD2510 owners to do the same. Call them today and open a support ticket. Good luck.

While they're still testing the FW (according to their support staff), please call again and tell them to fix 2 other areas with this player:

1- Dynamic compression (Audio) used to be: On and Off, with the latest FW it changed to Mid and Max.

2- Playback of MKV files.

That will make this player near perfect

Unhappy STILL having firmware update problems with MVBD2510(C)

I've searched all over the internet and have not found a solution to the firmware update problems I'm having with this Memorex 2510 BluRay we bought in November 2009 at an electronic outlet store, so I realize it was an out-of-date player even then. Up until we tried playing the new Avatar BluRay, we didn't have many probs with it (albeit most functions were slooooow) But, like so many of those who posted above, I have blown through several CD-R discs trying to get the firmware to read ANYTHING at the update option on the screen besides "This is not a firmware disc". Grrrrrr. I checked the firmware version/subversion already on the player (since it was bought so long after it's original manufacturer release and it's BDC100C-20081220USA? Which seems to me like Dec 20, 2008? But it appears the two updates were on the 15th and 24th, so...I don't know, but I've burnt ALL the files with a Windows PC, burned it using Power2Go7 as an ISO using the MEGAUPLOAD file suggested on the previous page (thanks for the help btw), I've burned just the "FLASH.bin" file as well as tried each individual file extracted, I've changed the ISO burner type to ISO9660, ISO9660/Joliet, etc etc etc but NOTHING seems to make this disc work for the firmware update. It DOES, however read many media types so I can burn movies as a data disc, as many as 5 or 6 to a dvd, and watch it w/o having to convert to "dvd", which is a feature that is lacking in many newer bluray players, or I'd toss the whole machine. If it can be saved and there IS a new firmware update out there OR something I haven't tried to get the fix from Dec 24, 2008 to work...ANY help would be so much appreciated. Thanks in advance if any one has any ideas

You mean you don't get the timeline pop-up while watching Avatar? Please confirm, because my factory firmware 2008-09-08 refused to play avatar so I skipped straight to 2009-07-20 i think and now I get the extremely annoying timeline pop-up throughout the movie.

I may just try 2008-12-20, anyone happen to have a copy? I hope it also fixes the Dynamic Compression option OFF that was changed to MID with the latest firmware.

My advice is to stay with 2008-12-20 until I can revert back and confirm the differences. I don't have a huge BD collection so firmware downgrade will have limited impact on me.
