Dude that is a pretty sweet tv u got there. The first thing I would do is to buy an HDMI cable and hook that from your ps3 to the samsung. Without it, you would not even be able to bring out the best in your gaming and blu-ray experience.

I got a Sony Bravia 32" and 60GB PS3, and have "Monster" HDMI cable ($50.00) and Surge protector ($115.00). The problem is, if you want to get techy, that the wall plug outputs what we call "dirty electricity." The volts of electricity being discharged out the wall socket fluctuate from high to low levels of energy which can overtime damage your electronic devices.
Basically, they regulate the flow of electricity every second of every minute of every day so that the picture becomes clearer than ever imagined and the sound as flawless as it was meant to be!

At first I thought those cheap 15 dollar surge protectors would do the trick, but after a technician told me otherwise, I opted for more serious protection. Just something to think about to protect ur investment.

Yeah, a surge protector would he nice... but, the next few purchases will be in the "sound" department.
At the moment, ive got decent speakers and no subwoofer. ...im by no means rich, so this will take some time to get on par with some of the insane home theaters on this site, but i can deal with it as long as im getting some good sounding 5.1 / 7.1 audio. And yeah, im using HDMI.

well anyway, back to the point.. oh wait, Red WAS the point. Well, hope your new TV never breaks

No idea. let me check.

Fronts- (2 of them)
Technics SB T200
100W
8 ohms

Surf- (2 of them)

Legacy LS3070
200W
??? ohms

Backs-

Yet to buy.

?

I know i probably need new speakers... First though, I've gotta fix that stupid receiver and its "Overheat 10 seconds after you turn it on unless you keep the volume below 70 during explosions and gunfire" rule it likes to force me to follow.
Of coarse, by "fix", i mean "Call onkyo and attempt to get them to repair it despite my serial number being off". >.<

Oh well, ill figure it out.

LOL Upgrade to a new sound system, which I plan on doin, make sure you have a good reliable surge protector, good HDMI cables and the list "could" go on. I know how you feel about the money deal cause I aint rich either but just take your time and add things as you go on. Thats what I am doing.

No, we all don't do that. I own two Sony XBR's, and the smallest is 52". It does not require crazy calibrating to look very, very good.

Don't buy the hype. This ISF hustle is a joke.

Whats wrong with the 605?

Unless you mean the speakers... Which i 100% agree with you. Over time though.
And i find Monoprice HDMI cables completely fine - in fact, i like them better than my 80 dollar HDMI cable due to the fact that it broke from simply being plugged in.
And yeah... Surge Protector is also needed.

I hate money... Anyone wanna donate?

Watch Casino Royale next.
Im done with the calibrating garbage. I just took that guy's (dont recall his name) settings and it all looks fine. In fact, we have 2 of these TVs in the house now (No, they arent both mine. It was just a really good sale. ) and mine looks A LOT better than the one upstairs. He doesnt seem to care though...

As for Casino Royale... I think i might just do that, I've never seen it, and you just reminded me that i need to.
Guess im going to blockbuster tommorow..

Also, I watch a lot of movies in a dark to dim environment, so I am setup for that.

Mode movie
Contrast 80-90
Brightness 45-50
Sharpness 0-20 (i have it a 0)
color 45(this you will have to determine)
tint 49/51
backlight 4-5
color tone normal
DNR off

Detailed settings
black adjust off
dynamic contrast off
Gamma 0
color space wide
edge enhancement off
xvYCC on

settings
HDMI Black Level low
You shouldn't have xvYCC on, turn it off. it messes up the picture. i think you need to have an actual source that surpports xvYCC.

Also movie mode makes skin tones and the picture green for some reason, you can fix this a little by going to Detailed settings, then go white balance and put the G gain on 0. put black adjust on low, it will help darken the blacks.

I watch movies with standard.

its funny you and I have the same TV and if I don't have xvYCC on the the picture is false, too vivid, with it on it is natural almost to the point of being in the same place with whatever I am watching. samsung has the expanded color gamut in their TV's. I hate black adjust cause it crushes the shadow detail. Each has their own settings.

I dont know how you use it, the picture looks all wrong. black adjust on low should crush anything, it doesn't for me.

Well, i see no difference whatsoever. Ha, obviously i have no idea what it is/does, so ill just leave it off and pretend i've never seen it in my life.

Edit: I kind of like the old settings, but on Standard. .
Ugh. I hate TVs.

watch a sports program with it off then turn it on, and you will notice that the grass goes from a very vivid green to a natural green you would see if you were there yourself. I noticed this while watching the Home Run Derby last year, I played baseball for a long time, I noticed when the batter dug in his feet with it ON, it looked like it did when I played baseball and dug my feet in, and the grass when from bright green to natural green.
