We've had our P2500 since March. The firmware problem with movies on demand started in July after the firmware was updated. We were able, with Samsung's help, to fix it finally then. but now it has reappeared. Apparently this is common. The first time you can fix it. But the next time you are screwed. Samsung wants us to send the unit in (totally our cost) although they admit it is a firmware defect (so how can they fix a firmware defect) and the fix won't be issued for about two months. we have spent about 8 hours on this total (July and now) and I don't think I'll ever ever ever buy another Samsung product. They told me there aren't enough customers with this problem to make it a big enough problem to elevate the schedule for the fix..... Plain and simple. Their admission!
I would like to get the original firmware back, and they agreed that would fix the problem. But I don't have it (at least it's not on their web site and I don't think I got a CD with it on it when I bought it....). |

As I recall, we saw a message somewhere on the screen when we tried to play a movie or something. I know we didn't go looking for it. Something told us on the screen that it was available. I supposed we had the choice of not installing it. Should have refused!

As I posted a few days ago, we've been through the hacking message problem twice now. the first time wasn't so hard, but the last time we could NOT get it fixed, even with Tier 2 tech support from Samsung. Finally I wrote and told them online what I had experienced and my thoughts about their company etc etc and I got a reply with more instructions (which I will give below). It worked! We think the problem was that before we tried half the solution and then the other half, thinking that one was a substitute for the other. But we think now that you must do all of this at one time. Finally at the end we were able to display a screen with a new Netflix source code also.
I should add that we don't play many Blue-Ray movies, so if that part is yet to fail, we don't know it yet. So here, for others who experience this hacking message problem, here is the solution from Samsung Tech Support's message that fixed out problem. If you receive the following error message, “Your ESN Has Been Hacked Please Contact Customer Support” or "Your BD player’s Netflix keys have been hacked": Please follow the steps below to fix this issue: Unplug the power cord for the player from the wall Hold down the power button for a minimum of 20 Seconds Plug back in Turn the player on and with no disc in the player, press and hold the FF button on the front panel until the player turns off. [we never thought it turned off but we held it for a LONG time] Follow the instructions for language selection. If this does not resolve your problem, please contact Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (800-726- 7864) Mon – Sun : 9am – 9pm (EST) |

Can't sem to start a new thread so I wil post here.
My BD-P2550 will not play standard DVDs. I have updated firmware with each new version and no change. Worked fine for any disc out of the box. Samsung believes it is a hardware problem but I do not aree since it play any Blu Ray GREAT. Is anyone having this problem? |

I have now tried twice. I follow Samsung's instructions and I get to the point where it asks me whether or not I want to upgrade the firmware (I'm trying to upgrade to v2.7). I say yes, and it says it's updating...
And says its updating... And says its updating... The update has not been updating for over an hour. I aborted the first one after 30 minutes. I'm ready to take a sledgehammer to my Samsung. Suggestions anyone? |

I've used both USB and internet but this last one took some time to download (at least ½-hour) and then I had to un-zip it and put it on a USB stick because the internet version was saying that my player was up to date when I knew that it wasn't. I've never tried the CD method because I don't want to waste a CDR disc to do it. When I updated it last night it took about 15 or 20 minutes so be patient. Is the player still working? If so, try the USB method (if you haven't already) and make sure you have the *.ruf file (not the *.zip file) only on the USB stick. |
