i think back to the future is a great trilogy, and while the 3rd imo is definitely the weakest it is by no means a bad movie. it was a solid conclusion to the 3 movies.

I agree...a great trilogy. I think that third is very good, but it was kind of hard to to top two. Two was just plain excellent! I also think Hellboy II was leaps and bounds better than the first, and I like the first a lot. A strong third would be a good way to end it before all of the actors get too old to pull it off. Hopefully it will happen and soon, but I'm not sure since it didn't do big numbers at the box office...respectable, but not big...just like the first one. This may have problems getting off of the ground like a third Narnia movie since greed seems to trump good movie making. Good profits just aren't enough for the movie studios. Every studio wants record setting blockbusters like the Pirates movies.

sequels tend to ruin movies especially part threes. Although I think the LOTR: Return of the King was the best of th LOTR Trilogy and a rare exception. And LOTR was a great trilogy but way too long, with that said though I am looking forward to the Hobbit but I think it will and should stop with the Hobbit(even though I never read the books).

Besides the LOTR ROTK, are there any part 3's or more that were as good as their prequels? I must admit that I actually liked Return of the Jedi more than A New Hope, and Revenge of the Sith more than Phantom Menace and Attack of the clones. Any others?

Also, if they ever make a Thundercats movie I think there is enough material there to make it a great trilogy but they shouldn't make more than 3.

The original Batman movies should have stopped after the first one. Keaton was great in it and Nicholson was awesome. All others were huge letdowns for me.

I think there should be sequels to Mr. Brooks. That movie was sweet and even Kevin Costner said that there is room for more chapters.

Despite the fourth Indiana Jones, I hope they do another one as long as it follows the trend IMO (good, bad, good, bad... good?).

Hellboy III? Do want! Doug Jones (aka Abe Sapien) told me in person that there will most likely be a third installment but that Guillermo may not helm it (since he has quite a few movies on his plate).

I'm up for more Bourne and Rambo but I think each were REALLY good ends to the series. As long as they are on par with the others.

I think the Scream trilogy is fine where it sits. Although if a 4th were done I'd see it providing all the cast returns. Yes, even Craven.

Comes out in 2010.

But Jaws, I mean really did we need all the sequels? Yeah they were fun but that doesnt mean anything when they are a mockery of the first one.

LOTR is not a very valid example of a trilogy, it's only one movie just like it was only one book. It was only slipt in 3 parts to make the publisher happy who thought the book was too big to be sold as such (even in the 50's they were finding ways to make more money )

i mean, valid point, but way i see it there are 3 movies, regardless of the book. 3 movies in sequence = trilogy

Godfather 1 and 2 were great. Godfather 3 should have never been made.

All true but when you ask PJ he will say it's only one movie. Well it's like splitting hairs of course

Also with Hellboy. Since Del Toro is so busy the third would not be made until 2014ish

That's why I'm hoping Doug Jones is right and Del Toro gets one of his friends to do it while he produces; kind of like how Peter Jackson is producing the Hobbit while Del Toro directs.

I agree with the Jaws comment above; they should have got the hint when each sequel made significantly less money each time. Jaws 3D WTF? LOL

There is no doubt that some franchizes should have stopped while they were ahead. But if the studio contniues to see $$$$$ they won't hesitate to keep pooping them out. I guess in a round about way, when Saw 20 comes out, the people should look no further than the mirror when they want to ask someone why (except me because I only watched Saw III and that was enough to say "Never again!").

I think it can also be said that some sequels have been great, depending on perspective. While some people hated the last two Matrix movies, I absolutely adored them.

In that same arena I love Pirates 1 but I hate Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3. I did read rumors a while back about the possibility for a Pirates 4 that would star Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush searching together for the fountain of youth, without that whole dreadfully dramatic, boring love story between Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner. Now that might make for an interesting story so I might appreciate that sequel.

I guess it all boils down to perspective.

The Saw series need to stop..1-3 was good but then it went downhill from there.

The Bourne Series is complete with 3...no need for anymore

Narnia should continue and so should the Golden Compass...

Die Hard was done at 2 no need for anymore....

Beverly Hills Cop...no more

Indiana Jones...maybe 1 more..

Star Wars....no more in any shape, size or form...
