Why is it that HD transfers are available, yet not blu-ray has been produced?
Paramount is VERY slow with their catalog titles. I think they try to tie every catalog title release to some film/event(Galaxy Quest) and then let them slowly go out of print.

If they're waiting for the next Silbering or Carrey film... it could take a few years. Hopefully they either tie it into something that Lemony Snicket is doing, tie it into Tim Burton's new movie(totally unrelated... but it's campy goth), or just release it because they've had it for so long.

If other regions are getting release dates things look good for the US. I could always import as well.

Shame this series was not given the full treatment. I would gladly pick up the blu however (obviously).

This could work as a TV show...

It's nice because it's different but could probably be better. Either way I'm buying it!

I presume that it will include all special features from the 2-disc DVD version. Would suck if the blu-ray release wasn't a complete set of all features. If so I wonder if they will add any new blu-ray exclusive features to it.

I like the Cover Art.

I wish that more of the films would have been made. It's not a bad series, even from an adult standpoint.

Yeah, it's a shame this series didn't continue. I really liked the first film. It had a really great feel to it. I was really disappointed when a sequel was never announced. I have it on DVD, but should Paramount ever decide to release it on Blu-ray in the states, I'd definitely look into getting it. Maybe if sales are good, they'd do a sequel? No? Wishful thinking? Yeah, you're right.

I've actually read an article in the past that they're planning to make a sequel in the future, but they won't use the actors in the first film because they've grown too old. They were planning on making a claymation film. Yikes.

Anyway, I've been wanting this on Blu-Ray for SUCH a long time. It's great to hear that it's finally coming out. US release details please!

You know thats not a bad idea...the visual style leads itself to that kind of treatment. Just don't let Tim Burton get his grimy paws involved.

So there is a new prequel series coming in the fall, could we see a Blu release then? Perhaps renewed interest in a film?

I love this movie. I'm really bumbed we don't have a bluray in the US. It also looks like its not planed for anytime soon. It really feels like we are the last to get everything lately. Which is verry annoying. We used to be one of the first. 2014 is the tenth anniversary hopefully we don't have to wait that long. But if its not out before then hopefully it will come out then and not later.

How hard could it be to get ahold of the transfer and release it for us?

This was a good movie... but man, there is a scene on the deleted scenes with Cedric the Entertainer and Dustin Hoffman... that just about has to be one of the funniest deleted scenes ever.

Does anyone know if the German edition of Lemony Snickets is Region Code Free?

I just saw it in a store, and the guy at the counter told me it was region B locked, though it was not stated on the back of the cover at all.

Is it true that Paramount's BDs are 99% region code free?

EDIT: I just bought and watched the German edition, and glad to say it's region free!!!!!

Here is my review of the technical qualities of this edition:

Hope this is useful to someone.

I'll still hold out for the US release, but thanks for the review.

Not sure what Paramount is waiting for, they are so terrible with catalogue titles.

I think it's perfect. It's like the poster, but with added stuff. And the border fits the theme.

Any new word on this? I wonder how much it would cost to import from Australia. Is that rating sticker part of the cover, or is it removable?
