but it's supposedly a part of the watchmen. it seems that it would be just as important as the watchmen. the whole story can't be told in pieces. think of it like tie-ins to comic books if you will. they may not be totally necessary to tell the story, but they are part of the whole story. thus giving a bigger picture. rather than just the gist of the story. it acts of sort of shading into the story to give you a fuller understanding.

A full understanding of the graphic novel can not really be attained unless you read the pirate sections. Moore used the pirate material as a framing device and allegory to provide insight into the main characters of Watchmen. In the Watchmen universe, pirate comics became the top sellers because real life superheroes already existed.

Well, not only that, but to describe the central action of the "pirate" section would be to reveal the entire plot of the book. I'd say it now, but I don't feel like getting banned today.

I've been watching them all online as they come out, and while they are really good, I don't really care to own the blu ray, I might buy Black Freighter on blu ray, but I'll be hesitated to wait if it ends up coming with a special edition of Watchmen.

You're probably better off just spending $14 and buying the book and using the rest to go see the movie. Just remember, that AMC Theaters doesn't usually take MovieCash as well.

I might consider purchasing Black Freighter/Under the Hood release a few weeks later if the movie is any good.

Was gonna skip this, but the review has got me all excited now. I've officially been in Watchmen mode for weeks now, so I may have to get this.

I don't really understand all the responses like, "Are you too lazy to read?" I've read the book several times now, and it's nice to get the story in a different medium.

Under the hood and tales of the black freighter will be integrated into a "Extended Edition" of Watchmen when it gets released on BD. Possibly through seamless branching.

The cost seems too HIGH for both Bluray and DVD even if one deducts the "Free $7.50 Movie Ticket".

Target has it for $24.99. BB wants $26.99. The BB ad also says you get the $7.50 movie cash if you buy the DVDs of Matrix, Matrix Revolution, or Constantine at $6.99 each. Seems like a good deal no matter how you slice it.

I suppose it's good, but I still think buying the book is a better deal. If you wait long enough you should be able to pick this up, minus the used MovieCash for well <$20. Also remember that the MovieCash ticket is not taken by AMC movie theaters or standalone IMAX theaters. Seeing as I'm seeing it at an independent IMAX theater, it makes the MC worthless to me.

I think they overpriced this release. There is no way I am paying full retail price for a motion comic. I wonder how much better it will look compared to the dvd because the animation looks iffy at best.

I bought this at Best Buy today though I wonder if I should have just gotten the DVD. $7 cheaper for the DVD at Best Buy. Oh well though, I think the movie cash will work at my local theater so there's $7.50 that I'm saving on this deal at least.

Dammit apparently the digital copy for this is ONLY for Windows Media. I'm on a Macbook so I'm screwed. Thanks a lot Warner Brothers. It's total BS too because they are currently selling it on iTunes for crying out loud.

I paid $22.00 for the series on ITunes - $1.99 x 11. Should have bought the season pass, but oh well. Don't need it on Blu-ray, looking forward to the movie.

I don't like buying digital media. It's too fragile. I've bought things on iTunes before and had my hard drive crash. I know they have a backup feature on there where you can put the files on a data DVD or CD, but that's a bit of a pain. Might as well have a physical copy of it that can be played on my TV.

By the way, there are 12 chapters, so that price should have been higher. You should have bought the "season pass" for $19.99 on iTunes. You save $4 by doing that vs. buying each episode at $1.99.
