Sending it via Media Mail would really cut down on the costs there. I'm guessing that many movies would cost you less than twenty bucks, even with delivery confirmation.

First of all what's the condition those movies are in?
All of them have been watched at least once I suspect. How do you take care of the discs and cases? (mint?) The ones that do have Digital Copies, did you use the codes, yet? Now that should determine how much you can actually get, or where your starting price should be... maybe even a reserve price. I would if all are in excellent condition start at about $750 - $800 and put a reserve at about $980 then go from there. Shipping cost... the lot should be anywhere between 18 - 20 lbs I would guess. So shipping cost would be - Priority Mail $45.00 + $12.00 insurance ($1000) + 2.50 signature confirmation = $59.50 Express Mail $80.00 + $4.00 extra insurance ($1000) = $84.00 You might actually be better off to sell a few "more expensive" titles on here first and then settle for a smaller ebay auction, imo. |

mint. they sit on the shelf til i watch the movie after that, back to the shelf. i don't smoke and i don't have kids. i have never once used a digital copy. there are maybe 2 or 3 that i bought used that don't have digital copies anymore but all the rest have digital copies intact. |

Now, there is clearly value there in quantity and quality but who is your customer? Who is the guy that's ready to drop $1000 on BR movies in one shot in this economy that doesn't already own a decent percentage of those titles? I see these big lots for sale every so often on eBay and Craigslist and while I really like the prices, its usually many of the same titles that I have already. Selling them all together: $500 or less. Selling off the half that you don't want individually: $900 and you keep half your collection. |

I've done 2300 deals on ebay since 1998, and have sold in both bulk lots and individual ones. They each have certain advantages for sure. Selling all at once will definitely bring you less money, but can alleviate a lot of headaches. The problem with breaking them up and piecing them off individually is a lot of time spent listing them on ebay, listing fees for each individual auction adds up, balancing dozens of auctions and email responses to different buyers, packing and shipping a large # of packages vs. just a one or a few, waiting on straggler people who haven't paid and/or may never pay you (if not using the immediate payment via paypal option), etc. All of these factors make it very inviting to dump them all at once. IF and WHEN you decide to sell them off just be sure not to sell off all the best titles and then leave all the dogs for another lot as you'll either be stuck with them or get very little in return financially. If it were me doing the selling, I'd suggest listing no more than 10 lots with 10-12 in each. Start each at 99.00 and see where they go. Mix the titles in the lots up where you have say 6 or 7 really popular titles with the other 3 or 4 being ones that are currently cheaper in price at retail, or lower in widespread popularity. I expect you'd sell all of them in the end, and they'd be more affordable for the average person at ending prices of potentially 100-150 bucks each.

You will get over a grand on ebay. Peoplelike the idea of winning an instant collection and selling off the ones that they dont want. On ebay quantity does make a difference on these types of lots. I have seen lots of just craptacular movies go for quite a bit. If you post they will bid and if not you can enjoy your own flicks.

I'd put them on the trading forum first.... otherwise I'd say $1,400 and you eat the shipping/fees via Ebay....... You could probably make a little more if you sell them individually, but with shipping/fees/time it's probably not worth it.

to sell in such a big lot, youd end up settling for a lot less than if you sold individually, the general opinion so far is 1000-1200 for the whole lot, but a lot of those BDs you could sell for $15+ individually and again agreeing with DetroitSportsFan, a for sale thread here would be free for you and youd probably get rid of them a lot quicker, hell ill probably even buy a few |

Just wondering what you ended up doing with your collection? Any News?
Having read through the thread, I found it quite interesting as the impression I got was that you seem to have amassed a collection that you predominantly do not watch. Is it the idea that you have a larger collection than your local video store that interests you rather than actually watching the films themselves? There also seems to be a high degree of indecision as to what you should do with the collection, it feels like one side of you is saying "get rid as I do want or need these discs" and the other is saying "I like the idea of a collection - keep them". . |

![]() to answer your question about "who has the money....." just because some people have lost their jobs and are hurting doesn't mean the entire country has lost their job. i'm in the military and i'm no where near losing my job. ![]() i'm sure i can find someone willing to spend over a grand on this collection. i'm positive i can. people are still spending money regardless of what the media is saying. they're just not spending as much as they were. ![]() |
