This is my first post in this forum.

After searching for a month for a small sub I ran accross this thread and thought what the heck, for the price I could always donate it to my son if it didn't work out.

I ordered the baby Acoustic Audio RW-8 last week off the ebay store and got to test today with a Polk Audio Surroundbar. It added just the right amount bass to the bar.

It's no match for some of my other equipment but it quickly earned the wife's approval when she saw how easy it was for me to hide it behind a chair in the family room.

Thanks for the thread Big Daddy.

Big Daddy, The HD subs have a fibergalss cone while the RW subs have a Poly Zirconium Cone. Will this make a difference in capability? The HD shows a 20HZ bottom while the RW shows a 23HZ bottom.
Could you please give any thoughts about these subs' abilities regarding music content? Are they"one note wonders"? Thanks for your mini review of these subs and any response you can make to my questions...Jaybird4

There is probably not that much of a difference between the drivers. On the average, most of us cannot tell the difference between frequencies under 40Hz.

I have 4 subwoofers in my HT room The Acoustic Audio is consistently the loudest of the 4 and I have to turn its volume down. Although I have a separate two-channel room, I listen to multi-channel SACD/DVD-A and Blu-ray concerts and two-channel music in my HT room. The bass sound has never been better.

For movies, the bass sound scares me and sends vibrations through my heart. My wife runs away when I play two-channel music in 2.4 format at loud volume. Thank god our house is not very close to our neighbors.

The sub is pretty loud and can easily overpower the other speakers. The volume should be set below the 50% point and care must be taken in the placement of the sub. If it starts booming too much in the corner of the room, it should be placed a few feet away from the walls. This may not be a perfect sub, but definitely one the best values for the money.

Bigdaddy, Thank you very much for your response. Do you think the RW-sub10 would be a good match with my AV123 xsub(8" driver)? Both have slotted ports if that matters? Jaybird4

As a general rule, I encourage people to buy identical subwoofers. However, with a little patience and experiment, you can make them work together. You need to move them around to find the ideal location for them. Make sure you have a couple of long RG6 subwoofer cables and tighten your belt.

Don't forget to read A Guide to Subwoofers (Part II). It has a sticky.

You can either plug it into the mono input (I think it's the white?) or you can get a Y-splitter which'll give you a couple more db's gain. In the end, either way is fine.

I was looking at the Acoustic Audio RW-SUB15 and its in my price range, seems good and i can only assume that your reviews from the smaller ones only mean that the 15 is just as good. Now i dont know much about receivers and all that, i got an Onkyo TX-SR506 75w x 7.1 channel amp

now what confuses me about these is it has a one wire pre-out for the sub. Can this woofer work with that cause i notice the L + R channels on it and then the speaker wire inputs. Im just a little confused cause my old receiver i had used a non power sub setup. So i would appreciate if you guys could tell me if this sub would work well with this receiver or if it doesnt, could you recommend me a good one. I mostly used my surround for gaming and movies, thats about it and i need some heavy bass. thanks

Acoustic Audio subwoofers are good value for the money. You are ok with your receiver. Run one subwoofer cable (RG6) from the pre-out (sub) of the receiver to the left channel of the subwoofer LFE input. Alternatively, you can use a Y adapter (2 Male, 1 Female) and attach the subwoofer cable to both channel inputs on the subwoofer. You may gain a few additional dB's of sound.

I just won the RW12 on an Ebay auction from DD. $117 shipped. I hope to have it by Friday and will see if I can get some pics up over the weekend.
The plate amp alone would cost that much, so I really lucked up with the price.
I'll be running this from my Yamaha 363 & Sony S350 BRP.

Congratulations on your new sub. Good high powered subwoofer plate amplifiers cost much more than that. Check Parts Express:

AA 12" arrived today. Went home for lunch and did a quick install. Didn't have much time to play with it. Set my Yamaha crossover at 90hz to the sub and watched a little U-571 and the opening scene of Blade.

It seems like a small enclosure compared to other 12's. The cabinet is very solid and all joints/corners are flush and smooth. The only cheap thing I noticed was the felt pads on the legs which started to come off so I removed them. I got this for $117 out of pocket, so there's little room to complain.

There wasn't much shock effect I believe due to the fact I've been using 15's up front (see my Mach 2's in the first pic). I think after I move up to a larger TV, I'll focus on replacing the Mach's with something smaller and less boomy.

Hello - I just ordered one of these subs. Where can I get a good cheap cable for it?...

I checked monoprice, but all I saw were these:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...02&cp_id=10236

It looks like you need a cable that is split on one end (to go into the left/right channels of the sub), right? As opposed to the cables in the link above that only have one connector on each end?...

Thanks!...

I received a red/white cable (~6') and a Y coupler to go into the single output on the amp. I would assume they would send you the same thing.

Default Acoustic Audio HD-SUB10... anyone own one?

I've seen a couple posts here and on other sites recommending the Acoustic Audio subs a thedeepdiscount.com. Does anyone actually own one of these or has anyone heard them?

http://stores.channeladvisor.com/the...0%20Watt%20Sub

I'm looking for a relatively entry level sub, but I want something more than I could get with a HTiB. Was wondering how this would compare to say a Polk Audio PSW-10.
