Yeah to pick off it's shoulder, then the "bag" you want to throw to. Switching to the upper camera for batting helped somewhat, and the pitching seems to be where Dev wanted it to be at. So far 22 strikeouts in 8 innings pitched, and four runs scored.

Weird. I could've sworn it didn't work. Maybe I didn't actually hit the button, out of fear it'd do something weird, and I'm just imagining I did.

I noticed a few bad calls in the game from the 3-4 times I've played. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume that since calls are sometimes made inaccurately, they're simply simulating that in the game.

There was a picture I posted in another thread, of when I was called safe, despite the 1b'man having the ball in glove, foot on the bag, before my foot was even close to touching.

In a later game, I did a pitch-out, and picked a guy off 1st. My 1b'man clearly applied the tag, when the runner's hands were still a good distance from touching the base.

In real time both plays seemed like they might have been called properly, so I didn't mind the mistakes too much.

Incorrect calls are made on purpose. Depends on the Umpire who's calling it and how the games going for that certain pitcher. During a couple of my games on the demo they give you the names of which umpire is where. So thats one of the things you might want to remember. Like if Umpire Chad is really bad calling strikes on the outside corner early in the game then the next time you have him you know not to do it.

well i switched my view to HIGH for hitting.
i can see the release point much better.

i also set my pitching to HIGH as the more i see pitches from that view = the better i should get at knowing if its a ball or strike

Yeah, I knew they'd have different strike zones, because I've noticed different size boxes during different games. There was one game where I remember Rollins was batting, and the top of the umpire's strike zone was well under the Phillies on Rollin' uniform. The strike zone look tiny.

I am surprised that the umpires in the field will make incorrect calls.

In the PMs I sent out to everyone, I mentioned starting about 2 weeks after the game comes out. With the demo out now, every has a chance to warm up, and if they get the game on release day, they have another 2 weeks to get used to the final build.

I figured 2 weeks should be plenty of time for everyone to go get the game, and if they need more time, we can probably work something out (we can start anyway, and since there is flex-scheduling, they can catch up whenever).

Yeah true. I have to tell myself 2 things. 1.Don't swing to early. 2.Don't swing at every pitch.

Whats wierd is the CPU knows it and sometimes throw the same slider 3 feet outside 3 times when I swing at it the first time.

i have a question though

for fly/ground ball swings what do i push?

and i need to know how to hit the ball to the 2b or rf on the ground for my runner on second base to move to 3rd.

Newsflash...The show is about sim baseball..

I dont find it hard as hell to pitch or hit...Last years game was to easy to do both and this year they improved it..

Nothing more boring then having a game where it is to easy to hit and pitch..

those that crave that and call this game to sim should give up their console and buy a WII

The game captures the essense of baseball to a T

Who the hell wants to just swing and hit all game long...

Read the pitches or lower the difficutly to rookie and be happy...

Hitting I use the default view. I always guess the pitch and zone. Even if I get one out of the two correct it helps. The cpu does pick up on how you swing. Like if you swing outside all the time, they'll throw that often until you let them throw balls. Just gotta be patient and not over anxious. I rarely use the power swing. I connect better and hit more home runs by just hitting regular and if it's a good location/timing hold the analog stick up.

Pitching, I almost always go for what the catcher says to do. 4SFB is usually a straight on pitch. If your pitcher get's tired or is under pressure it will tail off a different direction a bit. The other pitches just depend on the spin. Slider, curve, 2SFB, etc have their own directions of spin and strength. That's what the arrows are for. So if the catcher calls for one of those in a certain area, you have to estimate where you should start the ball so it will end up in the spot he's calling it.

Well I remember in some of these baseball games if you want to hit a ground ball you have to press the down button then swing. And up for a fly ball,

Yeah. That's what it says on the hints too. If your lucky and connect perfectly you'll hit a home run though when going for a ground ball. It's happened to me a few times, but for the most part you control it that way. You can also press left or right on the swing stick to hit the ball in that direction.
