You could also ask eD about their custom Av.2 based 18" drivers and a modified A7-900 to go along with it. Don't flame me for recommending eD here by the way!
asthetics are very important to me, i really do not like the look of elemental design subs, have heard that they are very good though

I know we argued quite a bit about polk speakers the other day, but I would go with the HSU as well. I have their older top end model the VTF3MK2. I love this thing, it maintains its performance with no drop outs to real low levels. I actually popped the screen off of my window once. I think you will love HSU subs, and their build quality and finish is beautiful.

I have been considering picking up a second sub as well. Keep me posted on how you like dual subs.

Which ever you choose, your gonna love two subs... I know I do!!!!

I plan on at least three, but I gotten really busy to put together a little test to figure out how it's going to sound.

I have to catch up with someone I know who can build a nice box/s for me for this little test.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Hsu subwoofers. They deliver their subs within a few days and their customer service is very good.

None of the subwoofers mentioned above are bad. There are minor price, appearance, and size differences. However, there is no doubt that two subwoofers, properly placed in the room, is the best choice.

I recommend that you do your research and buy what sounds good to you and what you like. If you let others influence you too much, you will be very confused and not totally happy with your final decision.

thanks big daddy your input is greatly appreciated. You also helped me in my purchase of my amp which i was asking about in a previous thread. Right the room i will be placing the subs is only about 1300 cubic feet so 2 of these might be a lil much, but i will be moving in about a year so i want to have the right gear ahead of time.

Unfortunately, most people are under the impression that two subwoofers are for creating louder bass. Although you can easily do that with two subwoofers, the idea of multiple subwoofers is about creating a smooth and even bass across the room and increase the sweet spot.

I have 4 powerful subwoofers in my HT room. In addition, my two tower Definitive Technology speakers have built-in 15" powered subwoofers (300 watts RMS each). Two of the subwoofers are modified and large passive 12" Hsu subs. They are fed by an external amplifier (700 watts each RMS). The other 12" sub is a powered sub with 400 watts RMS. The biggest subwoofer in the room is a 15" DIY passive subwoofer. It is fed about 1,500 to 2,000 watts RMS by an external Carver amplifier.

My speakers have been calibrated properly with Audyssey and an SPL meter. I spent a great deal of time positioning and calibrating each subwoofer individually. After that, I calibrated all 4 of them at the same time. My bass sound is not loud and excessive. It matches the other speakers perfectly and blends into the music. When I walk across the room with an SPL meter, the the variation in bass sound is a couple of db's. In some rooms, it can be as much as 20 db or more.

I also have a 12" DIY subwoofer with an external 300 watt RMS amplifier in my two-channel room for 2.1 playback.

I am always surprised by people in other threads that have one subwoofer and make outrageous claims about their subwoofer and how it rattles and shakes the house and windows. Something tells me that they haven't positioned and calibrated their subs properly.

The function of a sub is not to shake the house and create earthquakes. The sub has the important function of creating low bass extension for movies and music. Sometime you may have to calibrate your subwoofer(s) differently for music and some movies.

I can easily shake the house and create earthquakes with my subwoofers, but that is not the way I set them up. It will be helpful for you to read the thread I linked in Post #2.

i did actually read your thread about a mont ago which is what sparked my interest in 2 subs. Ill def have to go back and reference it again. My fronts also have subs in them, an 8inch in each, i just got myself a rotel rmb1095 with 330 watts per channel but unfortuantally my receiver has broken down and is off for repair so i cant appreciate it yet. I cant wait to hear the kind of bass it can output

I went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in upstate New York. It is the oldest English speaking engineering school in the world.

Did you go to Florida State?

ahhhh good guess lol, not sure what gave it away. Im guilty of advertising that in everything i do, half my clothing bares the seminole logo. I graduated in august of 08 and had to move my home theater back with my parents into my bedroom (such a step down from my nice living room in my apt with neigbhors that NEVER complained about the noise) untill my girlfriend graduates and we move to a larger place.

That is an old Armory that the university bought or it was donated to the university. When I was there, they used it as Gym for intramural sports.
