Last Christmas I compared the DVD and BR by switching back and forth between the DVD player and PS3, and while the PQ isn't astounding, the BR was noticeably better than the DVD on a 720p 37" TV, so that should tell you something. It may not be worth $20, but if you can find a good deal on it, I'd say it's worth it.

I couldn't resist the 5.99 DVD Amazon was offering...I'll jump on the Blu when it gets closer to 10 dollars than 20!

Thanks for the advice!

Since you're a fellow Canuck, can I ask where and hopefully this sale is still on?

Default Hey Mike,

This is off topic but I just wanted to mention that I just picked up the "Matrix Trilogy" on bluray for 39.99 at Costco in Burlington, Ontario. Awesome price considering Walmart has it listed for twice the cost!

You could trade that $5.99 disc at dvd2blu for the $7.95 version. But unless you order multiple titles, there is also shipping. I upgraded three Christmas movies for $27, and got them in less than 2 weeks.

That said, I don't see much improvement in the Blu-ray over DVD for Vacation. The blu-ray looks more like the DVD should have. The DVD didn't look so great either, as I remember.

Of course they sold that Blu-ray version of the collector's set for $50

And what use could anyone possibly have for that moose mug? Gonna take shots of egg nog from it? I don't get it...

I don't understand why you would quote all of those pictures..... yet you did......

One man's "useless crap" is another's collectible item....... and for what it's worth, I think the Marty-Moose mugs are FANTASTIC.

Just checked that out. You just send in the discs and do they send you back the Blu Ray in the case, just like you would get in the store or do they just send you discs back?

Also, do they rotate the selection?

the package clearly aims at the fans of the movie. clearly you don't belong in that category.

I would've picked up the SE if they had just included the santa hat and a full size moose mug. Not a fan of the cover pic on the case either.

Know this is old, but I've been looking for some good pics...I'm so on the fence with this now.

Does this movie auto-start? Or is there a main menu? I know older WB releases just auto start. And I main reason I'm on the fence is is there a 25th Edition on the horizon? I only care if we finally get some good extras for better transfer/sound.

The 25th anniversary is still 3 years away (2014). This year was the 30th anniversary of the original Vacation, so if a new BD was on the way, 2011 would have been a perfect chance to release all four films in a boxset or something.

But I've been looking for the tin case one for a while now, found a bunch at the local Costco last year (didn't buy for some reason). Here's hoping I find one this year!

Maybe I'll just cave and get it, then. This and Scrooged are the 2 titles I'm most on the fence about getting on blu, hoping for something better. But waiting year after year for better disc releases, seems to be pointless.

Just wanna find out if it auto-starts though, I prefer it doesnt. But curious either way.

I can confirm that it auto starts. No main menu once you put the disc in the player.
