As exciting as this news is I actually am a bit disappointed on 2 fronts.

Let me celebrate what's good first. I love the idea of the STAR TREK TRILOGY. This is a natural to package them together for those who want to follow the complete genesis arc. This has been an overlooked way of packaging the series.

As for the bad, i'm disappointed that we don't have the option of the extended versions of I,II and VI (especially VI). Though I saw UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY theatrically, I don't even remember that version as the Home Video version is the only one i've known. I really appreciate Paramount using Lowry on these films but could they have sprung a little more for the extended edition versions and then make both available via seamless branching?

That leads me to ask, has Paramount released a BD with seamless branching?

Secondly, I wish they would release the films individually, though the trilogy interest me, i'm only planning on purchasing UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY. Seems with this series and Warner's THE BATMAN series, that those studios don't want my money till way late in the year.

I think it's just Paramount raping the fans yet again.

~ $100 a season for all Star Trek series, yet any other TV show, a Season typically costs ~$30-50.

Regardless... I'll still pick them all up on release day, I'm just unhappy that Paramount continues to bend us over a rail for no good reason.

Rich
At 30% off list price, the set would be $73.49 on Amazon. That's for 6 movies. That isn't cheap enough?

I don't see Paramount bending anyone over a rail....the 2-disc special editions of all the movies were fantastic, and they usually listed for under $15.00. They were the biggest bargains around. Now you get six loaded Blu-Rays of the first six films for less than $18.00 a film.

How are you being bent over the rail? Of course other versions of the films will come out someday, but what else is new?

Good, but I hope these are widescreen or they won't look good on my plasma.

I'm not talking about price of the films, I'm talking about the price of Season 1

When I purchased my TOS DVDs, I picked them up first day of sale. If I recall correctly, they were $99.99 SRP, so they were probably around $70-$80 when I bought them on sale. For the BD sets to be within a short stone's throw away from the DVD SRP, from that POV I'm grateful. Granted, it's still a lotta money, but considering what I thought Paramount could've listed these for, I'm less stigmatized by their price.

Lowry restored The Voyage Home and First Contact! At least he got to do some of them. I agree that TWOK and TMP needed his touch more than the others.

I am glad the TOS Blus are seamlessly branched because I don’t think a lot of the CGI FX were that great.

It would be nice if we could get the movies as separates. I couldn't watch Trek 1 or 5 to many times, they bore me. I want all the rest. The Voyage Home has got to be the best of the series. For now I guess I'll get the 3 pack and hope for #6 at a later date.

Whoa.. Lost S3 on Blu-ray MSRP is 97$, 6 disc, no remastering done.

Band of Brothers, a 10x50 minutes show MSRP is 100$

So i don't think 117$MSRP for a 7 disc set, remastered in both Picture and sound is too much

^ agreed. Looks like Paramount is delivering the goods with these: thank goodness for original theatrical cuts of I, II and VI. Did I read correctly 7.1 audio? Can’t wait to hear the Goldsmith and Horner scores! As long as the PQ retains some film grain and is not DNRed to hell, I'll be in Trekkie bliss.

Since I own no previous DVDs for TOS, I love the seamless branching feature!

These are day one purchases, regardless of price. THANK YOU PARAMOUNT!!!

So psyched about this!! Day one buy for the 6-movie set. I'm very thankful for the low price as well; Amazon never charges the SRP so they'll still be cheaper a lot cheaper. This is actually cheaper than when they were first released as a set on DVD

I am from the UK and got mine pre ordered cheap from amazon.

I am a bit supprised with the announcement of 7.1 audio which is very good. With the movies I am slightly disapointed with no seamless branching for the extened cuts but since its costing under £11 in total for each I am not fussed.

As for the original series season 1 I am glad they are doing both the original end remastered together. I got this one pre ordered and it was cheaper then what I picked it up on HD-DVD
