Have no fear. This thread is a Hyundai Sonata to your thread's Lamborghini Diablo.

I stand by my idea that there's no such thing as a one hit wonder when it comes to acting. You either were never a star, and didn't carry the movie (to make it a hit in the first place), or you're enough of a star to be in 2 movies that make money. I think it was a better idea to list actors who have been in numerous movies, but will always just be remembered for one role they had (like Anthony Perkins).

The concept of Blair Witch made it a hit, and would've been just as successful if the three lead roles were played by me, my friend, and a jar of peanut butter.

I disagree with Apocalypto too, because I don't think anyone saw it based on a review saying "go check out this guy Rudy Youngblood, he's amazing". They saw it because it was some weird Mel Gibson movie. The gingerbread man could've played the lead role, and people would've still seen it.

So I think if there is supposed to be an "actual" one hit wonder thread, the examples have to be people who really carried the movie, and made it what it was. Not just people who, by happenstance, ended up in a movie that became somewhat of a success.

I'm willing to bet that you can ask anyone on the street to name the guy from Apocalypto or any of the people from Blair Witch, and they wouldn't be able to name a single one. Not much of a wonder. Yet all of them could tell you who sang Ice Ice Baby.

another example of Toefer not getting it....

ok, the cast of blairwitch rose to fame because of the success of Blairwitch, they were cast in other things but could not manage to hold a career in hollywood and pretty much disappeared....and yes, when Blairwitch was a hit, anyone could name them, their faces were on every late night tralk shot and daytime tv...hell, I still remember their names and I was 15 when that came out...if your in a hit movie and were the lead, your gonning to be famous for a little bit, but its hard to keep the hold on fame, as quickly as you can be in the public eye, you can just as easily fall out of it. It really takes talent to have a long career in Hollywood but sometimes people get lucky and get cast in a hit movie, and become stars all of the sudden but very quickly lose that star appeal as they cant trigger the same success with another film (meaning one-hit wonder, your 15 minutes of fame are up!)

and if you like the other thread that much, then post in there, as this has nothing to do with the other one....Like I said, this thread is for the confused people about what the other thread was suppose to be about and what it was actually about....

Haha. You were the one threadcrapping in carpal's thread, so you can't say much. And you subtitled this thread "Actual One Hit Wonders" implying that only you seem to know the true definition, and had to set it straight. So I felt like calling you out for using bad examples.

The "stars" of Blair Witch were not all over the place, and nobody knew their name, except maybe from watching TRL. I don't know why you think they were. Ice Ice Baby is almost 20 years old, and people still know who sang it. They were not thrown in a bunch of movies after BWP to try to cash in on their star power. They were in movies that were so low-budget/indie that they don't even have poster images on IMDb, and maybe 10-20 votes.

I don't think I annoy many members, I think I just annoy you.

And to actually be positive, I agree with the guy who mentioned the kid from Willy Wonka. That's the closest I can think of to a one hit wonder, because he seemed like he would've had a future, but quit acting before we could ever find out.

i agree. i can't name one person from blair witch. i couldn't when it came out. and some of the movies that are mentioned i don't think were really hits. did apoclytpo do really well? i think they're not many, if any at all, true acting one hit wonders according to the original poster's rules. take music for example. many one hit wonder artists actually have more than one hit but are often only known for that one song. and those hits are usually on the same album. it doesn't detract from the fact that they had a few hit songs. if we're going on real one hit wonders in acting, the best examples would be hailey joel osment and brad renfro. oh and mark hamil.

I wasnt thread crapping in his, I was confused about the thread as was others, and that long post I made about it in that thread was a response to the confusion, if I was thread crapping, I would type what you typed above.....and no, its more then just me that gets annoyed....and yes, the Blairwitch actors were everywhere the first few weeks after the intial release, if they were smarter, they would have hired better agents......all and all, if you dont like the rules, then dont play...fairly easy and simple....

I think you should speak for yourself instead of acting like you run the forums and speak on behalf of others.

And if we saw the same Blair Witch, the people behind the movie were trying to act like it was real, so the actors were intentionally not all over the talk show circuit when it first came out.

He had the lead role in The Count of Monte Cristo, which turned a profit, so that's at least a second hit. Not sure if he had any others though.
