Now let's just get the songs not currently available in RB2 as a DLC there and we'll be set...

Though I really really like Rock Band, I think I'll have to pass on the PSP version.

Has there been any clear indication one way or another if the songs you pay for on one systems can be used on the other?

I'm interested in picking this up, but it they are looking to nickle and dime everyone by requiring you to buy the same tracks seperately for each system, I might just pass on principle.

They aren't the same game so the same DLC won't work. They aren't even played the same way, really.

I just watched some of the video on the previous page. It looks like it could take some getting used to. It doesn't look like if you're an expert player on GH or RB that you can just jump into that difficulty on this one. Does BB rent PSP games?

If you've got a handling on rhythm from playing GH or RB, or just banging on your steering wheel, it won't take more than a few minutes to adjust to this game. The hardest adjustment is just learning to keep swapping between the various instruments, as sometimes its hard to go from a bass rhythm and then jump right into lead guitar, and then go over to vocals where the guy is singing a few words off beat, then switch over to the drums where he's playing a lot faster.

But at the same time, that's probably what I like the most about the game. If you get link together some phrases, it's fun to just bounce around through the different instruments, and jump right into their parts, without missing a beat.

One thing I didn't find at first, was whether there was a way to play just a single instrument. If you go into the Extras, there's a mode called Warmup, which is basically a sort of No Fail mode, where you can stay on any single instrument for the entire song if you want (and it takes the phrase part of the game away... which in the regular game prevents you from playing notes on an instrument for a while, after you complete a phrase, and it starts playing on its own).

There's also a Survival mode, which apparently ends as soon as you miss a note, but you still have to play as the entire band (or your meter may go down).

And finally there is a "Modify Game" mode within the Extras, and that just allows you to turn off Solos, turn on No Fail mode, and unlock all the songs (why this isn't just in the options menu, I don't know... maybe to hide it).

I wonder how big the DLC will be compared to the PS3 files.

There's also a

I had a chance to play this when I visited BB today and started on easy where there seemed to only be two colors, green and yellow. But quickly got used to it and jumped to expert and wasn't terrible. It was still difficult. I'll definitely get it.

There's a demo on PS Store. The songs included are Miss Murder, Everlong, and The Middle. Swapping is the hard part. I think there's an option to have it do it itself automatically.

At the time of my previous post, I'd been playing on expert so I didn't even get through any song. And then I went to hard and this demo doesn't even let you finish playing the songs. Like 3 songs wasn't few enough, it's not even 3 whole songs.

I couldnt quite figure it out from the video links and such: Can I turn off the 'other' instruments? Can I play just one instrument? Or is the track switching thing a feature that's in every mode?

You can't turn them off, but there's Warmup Mode which allows you to stick to one instrument the entire time (all 4 are still there, but in the normal game once you complete a "phrase" that instrument's notes disappear for a while... warmup mode basically eliminates the phrase part of the game).

Can't figure out a control scheme that works for me! I thought I did but once I had to press 2 things at once it all broke down. I couldn't hit left and right at the same time!

I almost got out of Target with this today. They had it on display, I asked for it because it was locked up behind the glass display and I guess they hadn't entered it into their system yet so they wouldn't let me have it.

I just played the demo quite a few times. You definitely feel like a "badass" when you are stringing the notes together and than changing the "highway" was weird at first but when you get the hang of it , it's a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, I don't think i'll be getting this title now. This is the first time i have touched my PSP in over a year. I would have played it endlessly if the price tag for this game wasn't 40$. Also, I'm very upset that I have to re-buy the songs I have already purchased for rock band 2. Makes no sense (other than from a $ perspective) I think they missed a great oppurtunity to use remote psp for this.
