Well, I've used some really nice DVD players equipped with Reon and ABT. I guess we will just have to disagree about it being average. It's not up with the best, but don't think it's fair to call it average either. Maybe you should stop into Best Buy (or equivalent) and see what an "average" upconverting player gets you. I don't even like PS3's, so don't get the wrong idea.

I use my LG BH200 to watch DVD's that player have the QDEO chip for video upconversion.

yep, I've used plenty of upconverting players with various chipsets used in the; Reon, ABT among them. Because of that, the PS3 is average or middle of the pack. I never said it's a slouch, but I would never consider it a top 5.

Demoing anything in best buy is like looking through scratched glasses. I will never use anything I see in that store or similar to base my judgement/decisions on.

If you think the PS3 is better then me, that's fine, they're called opinions. My opinion of the PS3's upconverting is different then yours. Nothing wrong with being different.

PS3 is overatted. In picture quality only. Everthing else that it do I really respect. But if you want to see excellence then see the big dogs. Top of the line Denon, Pioneer Elite, Sony ES. DVD look excellent Blu rays jaw dropping. I watch my DVD thru a Sony 400 dvd player thru a DVDO iscan pro hd video processor. Rivals the top the line blu ray players.

Thanks, but I use a Pioneer BDP-51FD in "Source Direct" to my DVDO Edge video processor or my Onkyo HD805 HD DVD player with Reon, or my PC that beats both of them... I also used to own the best DVD player to date, the Oppo 983. I'm not worried about my equipment...

If you guys wanna call anything that's not the top 5 players, average, than that's fine. I wouldn't. "Average" just has a different meaning to me.

Don't worry cbm1965, I read your other thread. I know how you feel about the PS3.

I'm using my Toshiba XA-2 HD-DVD player for SD conversion. It does a much better job than my BD-30. I will probably buy the new Oppo player when it is released though, so I anticipate using it in the future for upconversion.

Nope, I think I used it once to watch Judge Dredd. I sold ALL of my standard dvds for blurays or waitlists.

I own a PS3 and a Pioneer 51 but when it comes to sd dvd my trusty Sim Audio Moon Calypso still gets the call, it clearly beats the Pioneer and kills the PS3. Picture is stunning.

My SAMSUNG BD-P2550 makes A dvd look much better , But it's no comparison to A Blu-ray disk !!!!!!!!
