This had better reach Australian shores (you know, where the films were actually MADE) or I'll be very angry but if so, AT LAST.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe Warner managed to get the rights?
I digress, it would be great to get the first one on Blu-Ray, since it and Road Warrior are my favorite Mad Max movies (I like Beyond Thunderdome, but it's much weaker than the first two, IMO). |

MGM has the rights for the first one in the States, but my thinking is that it might be for the two they do have the distribution rights to which are MM2 and Thunderdome, George Miller's production company is who owns the actual rights to the series.

Well this is from a day or so ago...at least they're not making a fourth live-action Max film without Mel...

MGM/Fox has the rights in North America, yes. So I can see this coming out in Europe long before it reaches here. Don't expect it in North America right away. If Warner produces the extras in Europe, then MGM/Fox needs to license those extras to make us all happy

I always wondered; could Lord Humungus actually be Toecutter who somehow survived the crash with the truck?! And what was up with the emphasis on the gun box with the red velvet lining and the old photographs?

From thedigitalbits.........
Any Mad Max fans out there? Well, MGM and Fox are releasing the original 1979 classic on Blu-ray+DVD Combo Pack on 10/5 (SRP $24.99). Don't expect much in the way of extras, but it will be good at least to finally have an HD transfer of the film on disc. Were it any other Mel Gibson film, this would be galactically bad timing given recent... *ahem* news. But with Max Max, it's oddly appropriate. madmaxbrd.jpg |
