Band of Brothers
Black Hawk Down
Letters from Iwo Jima
Kingdom of Heaven: DC (I guess it fits more in the 'epic' category, but whatever)
Casablanca (plus it's a beautiful box set)
Defiance (June release)
Glory (June release)

There are a TON of older movies that need to get the Blu-Ray treatment, just seeing the Bond re-releases and Quo Vadis (not really a war movie, but I'd recommend it as an epic) this past week shows that there is a lot to be gained from Blu-Ray restorations of all these older movies...

Default War on Blu-Ray

Agree with most of the posts. Didn't see "The Longest Day" listed. I bought as part of a collection for $26 along with "The Sand Pebbles" and "Flyboys". I have never seen The Longest Day before and not only is it an excellent movie, the blu-ray transfer is the best black and white I have seen in my short blu-ray experience.

We have all those on regular DVD and love them, but haven't decided on whether or not to upgrade to blu-ray.

You can get Patton for 10 bucks now at Amazon. Band of Brothers is 31 dollars at Amazon.uk.

You will not be disappointed especially at these prices.

Battle scene in Pearl Harbor, skip to it. My father-in-law, retired AF Col. in SAC, who was in the Pacific campaign said out loud in his booming bass voice in the middle of the theater as the attack started an hour into the move. "THANK GOD FOR THE JAPS"! LOL. Love the roar of those zeros and P-40s in that movie.

The battle scene in Valkyre was outstanding. I wish they made a movie of the desert war that was that authentic and in tune to detail. Gotta give props to that movie using authentic gear and locations.

Band of Brothers - excellent
Black Hawk Down - probably pretty accurate
Full Metal Jacket - goes downhill after boot camp, but omg, what a movie
Letters from Iwo Jima - best part for me was when they showed the fleet
Great Raid - underrated but excellent and based on a true story
Flyboys - Probably most accurate rendition of WWI air warfare
Pearl Harbor - Just the war scenes
Patton - Stunning transfer, feature length documentary worth the price
The Patriot - The Smithsonian was on board, a first for a movie, probably the first time we see what a canon ball really did back then.
We Were Soldiers - About 80% Real 20% Hollywood according to panel who where there and discussed the show on a History channel program.
Gladiator - unleashing hell
Master and Commander - probably best depiction of period naval warfare
God and Generals has good scenes, but drags in many areas.
Battle scenes in both Transformer movies are very accurate in terms of U.S. military weapons with the exception of jet powered Preditors. Seeing a Spectre Gunship in action was thrilling.

From what i own so far...

1 - Band of Brothers [Granted, not a "movie" but hands down the best.]
2 - Starship Troopers [Fantastic movie with a great transfer to Blu, need i say more?]
3 - Full Metal Jacket "Deluxe Edition" [IMO, the best Vietnam War movie ever, and the remastered Blu release is well worth your money.]
4 - Generation Kill [Same as BoB, not a movie but what an amazing show.]
5 - We Were Soldiers [Plenty of things said about this one.]

Some honorable mentions...

Blood Diamond
Flags of Our Fathers
The Patriot
