The Bond rights are going to be interesting, i don't think MGM owns them (because of a lawsuit Cubby Brocoli brought upon MGM in the early 90's - causing a 6 year stoppoage in bond films)

therefore i don't think MGM has the right to sell them, now thats not to say MGM will continue to release Bond movies, MGM as a whole is probabaly goingto be non existant in a year or so, EON productions may decide to go to another studio, but it's not up to MGM as to where the James Bond franchise goes

As most of us have expected, Sony will probabaly become the distributer of any future bond Movies and Eon will likley give sony the home video and television rights to the current 22 movies to Sony as well

Sony just makes sense since they already own distribution rights to Casino royale and EON has a working relationship with them after they bought MGM a few years ago

Officially, the overall rights are owned half by the Broccolis (Danjaq LLC) and half by MGM (United Artists Corporation). From what I've seen about the past lawsuit (from the Giancarlo Paretti era at MGM, where Cubby objected to being cut out of TV-licensing deals), I don't think the Broccolis can block the actual sale, though they can certainly complicate things if they don't like the new owners.

The news reports I've seen don't list Sony as a possible buyer. According to this MI6.co.uk item, the potential buyers include Time Warner (though I still think the Justice Department might block that deal except for The Hobbit), Fox, Lionsgate, and private equity firm Qualia Capital. Given that Fox is MGM's current home video distributor, they're probably the best choice if we want the Bond BD set completed anytime soon. However, other sources say they'll sell the MGM brand separately; if so, I think Lionsgate will buy it.

Does anybody know if they are still going to continue to release the volumes? I see they are coming out and have a lot of the james bond movies now, but stopped at Volume 3. I want to keep the volumes going but they haven't release another in a long time. Does anybody know the deal?

MGM's financial woes is the deal.

MGM is in a bag o hurt. Don't plan on seeing any more volume sets or other JB catalog product minus the QoS CE until the fate of the studio is determined.

It does not help that the volume sets sold rather poorly and many preferred the single disc packaging.

Oh I got ya. Thanks for your help. If u were me and were trying to collect all the James bond movies, would u just go out and buy the rest of the single movies that weren't in the volumes?

I would say buy the singles and forget the box sets, especially since there is no sequence to the movies contained inside them.

I would buy them any way I can.. Also the Titles are released through Fox... I don't think MGM's current fate has much to do with any more movies being released

Fox only handles distribution for the MGM titles on home video. MGM still has control over what titles are released.

Default It's getting old, waiting around for the complete box set

I refuse to buy any James Bond movies on Blu-Ray until they release the whole box set. If they left off the Daniel Craig films, I would be "more than OK" with that.

Not one damned thing....he is the best Bond, hands down, IMNSHO. I've been a Bond fan since age 7 (1971), and I hardly ever watch the old ones anymore. Firstly, I've seen them all so many times that I know the dialogue throughout (LOL), and, honestly, they are simply too dated (most of them, anyway). And I pretty much skip the Brosnan/Dalton era entirely....I thought both of those Bonds were miscast. Dalton's just wrong for the part entirely, and Brosnan missed his best window of time for portraying the character by a decade, easily....to say nothing of the horrid scripts he had.

Give me Craig as Bond every single day of the week.

I'm really hoping we get a new volume this year. I don't want to wait until late next year for the next movie

Luckily, I just got the volume sets a few months ago so I didn't have to wait 2+_ years like some others,. but still, the wait sucks!

For anyone who owns it or is interested, I added the James Bond Blu-ray Set (Best Buy Exclusive) to the database. Couldn't believe it wasn't already there when I was adding more of my collection today, so I added it. Waiting for the updated stock image I uploaded to be added, but it's pretty much all set.

In case anyone is wondering, this set includes "Quantum of Solace," "License to Kill," and "The Man with the Golden Gun." Link is here: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/James...Blu-ray/49052/

It's a shame we'll probably never get matching box sets for the remaining Bond films, because even though it annoys me that these things make the movies be out of order on my shelf, I still really like them.

So you're the guy to talk to about getting things added? There's a new Jimmy Buffett live Blu-ray that I was looking for earlier and it wasn't in there.

Haha, I'm not the guy to talk to. I just added a new entry and waited for it to get accepted, just like anyone else has the ability to do.

Ah, had a feeling that's what you meant. Where do you do that? I could not find that option.
