TrueHD is a lossless compression codec. So, while it's compressed, it's the same thing.

The Collector's Edition has a different mix.

I'm also very sure that the TrueHD track is a 24 bit track, where the PCM track is 16 bit. I've found some conflicting information on the sampling rate, however.

Well, I just picked it up, but yet to watch it. Curse you studios for offering upgrades better upgrades later on down the road. However, Casino Royale was and still is an awesome movie, so I think it is worth it. It is almost inevitable that the same will happen with Quantum of Solace

Yeah the TrueHD track is 24bit compared to the original 16bit PCM.

guys should i get the original or the collectors edition based purely on PQ & AQ

im not one for special features, but im not sure if the AQ is a significant upgrade, would i even be able to detect the change in audio between the two?

Is the Casino Royale CE worth $20 for the upgrade from DVD to Blu? That's the price on Amazon currently. I already have QoS on Blu, so I'd like to have both Craig films on Blu. Should I jump on it?

Depends on the price difference. If it is anymore than $5 I would just get the original. The difference between the two is minimal, if you disregard the extra features. Although the new cover is MUCH better IMO.

The Collector's Edition is okay but the first release is actually the better way to go as IMHO the 2-disc version doesn't have much on it that is worth it.
