To each their own. I personally found the rape scene in Straw Dogs much harder to watch than the one in Irréversible

. Straw Dogs is still a great, important film though, and one I would definitely watch again in HD. These films are certainly not for everyone however.

Also, you may have felt sick when watching Irréversible because

. This is why some people at Cannes walked out before the film had finished.

I loved the droning sound. I thought it was perfectly fitting.

The British actress admits she was left "traumatised" by the harrowing sex scene in Gaspar Noé's controversial 2002 film, and now she just cannot bring herself to even pretend to be shocked by sex on screen.

She says, "I couldn't watch Irréversible. I was traumatised. I like to act to feign shock because it's what you're supposed to do but actually, deep down, it's not that shocking. Irréversible was a shocking and brutal film.

"Watching two men (making love) in a scene is actually not shocking anymore."

So random...but at least the film is back in the news.

The rape scene in Straw Dogs is so damn nasty... Not that it's anywhere near as graphic as the one in Irreversible, but the fact that

is so controversial I'm supprised they were allowed to keep this in...

Just after watching it for the first time. The two scenes mentioned throughout this thread are indeed pretty brutal

Totally agree with what somebody here said too, the happy 'ending' being extremely tragic.

Hopefully a BR version will appear before too long.
