If you've got some kind of beef with FoxNews, that's cool. I simply don't get what you mean by saying that "it IS Fox News" and not backing your sarcasm with any meaning to the sentence. Am I supposed to believe "Logan" that there's something with FoxNews that I'm not seeing and you're not saying?
Yes.

LMAO the terms FOX and NEWS should never be used in the same sentence, and msnbc isn't any better just slightly less of a joke, i envision anyone who watches those channels for more then a laugh as wearing tin foil hats, and watching E! all day for the real important stuff

edit: i guess i should comment on the thread, to admit to a crime in his article is stupid or to get right down to it, to even illegally download a copy of a movie whoever you are is wrong, this guy got what he deserved.

Just to be clear, his firing didn't have anything to do with the review of the movie - it had to do with his illegal downloading of the movie to review it (and most likely some comments that appeared to encourage illegal downloading).

There seems to be some confusion as to whether he really was fired, but I completely agree with Fox on this one. If he wanted to review it, he should have done it the correct way. For Fox to not take action in this case would have made it seem like they were ok with the illegal downloading.

You're mostly right there. The bone that News Corp. had to pick with Friedman's article you are right on about. However Friedman's article didn't condone the illegal downloading explicitly, he just fessed up to doing it. News Corp. alleges, and rightfully so IMHO that by reviewing the pirated version of the movie, he is de facto condoning it because it could draw people to the pirated material on the internet. 20th Century Fox doesn't want people to watch the Internet copy because the leak could cost them millions at the box office. We had one entity of News Corp. get material stolen and put online illegally and then a columnist from another entity of News Corp drawing attention to how easy it is to get it. Any media conglomerate would have done the same thing.

I must be out in the weeds. The hugest grain or the smallest grain whichever. It seems that many of you don't even know why you don't trust Fox. I guess it must be cool to do so. Bill Maher or Michael Moore or Sean Penn or Batman must have said it's hip to hate on Fox. What did they lie to any of you about? It's one thing not to like the personalities of a channel, but many here seem to imply that FoxNews isn't trustworthy and can't provide one instance of when they had been misled or lied to. Why would they post a story drawing attention to a piece of property a sibling company of theirs own that was stolen and can be illegally downloadaded? You snicker at FoxNews as though it's just desserts for some perceived slight to journalistic integrity. Yet when asked why Fox is to be mocked, you have no idea why you laugh. Sounds like the joke's on you.

It's still unclear if he was actually fired. From IMDB:
It was unclear, even as of today (Monday), whether FoxNews.com's entertainment columnist Roger Friedman had been fired for writing a review of 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine based on a pirated copy of a workprint that appeared online last week. Although Friedman had praised what he saw, News Corp, Fox's corporate parent, said that he had been "terminated." Twentieth Century Fox issued a statement saying that Friedman's decision to watch and review the movie was "reprehensible, and we condemn this act categorically -- whether the review is good or bad." But as of this morning (Monday), Friedman's blog was still posted on FoxNews.com (although without the Wolverine review). Friedman himself told ABC News, "There was no action taken against me." And the HuffingtonPost.com said that Friedman will be meeting with News Corp executives this morning to discuss the matter.

Maybe calmer heads prevailed and they just had him take down the review from his blog.

There is a hugely appropriate (and true) saying used by the hardcore Harley bikers. It applies here as well. They respond to those making inquiries..."If I have to explain, you wouldnt understand"

Disclaimer. I race Japanese bikes.

He should be fired. And brought up on charges. IMHO.

He was a freelancer whose column "Fox411" has been terminated. Roger Ailes clarified this on Sunday.

Some might believe that if they don't have an ingrained mistrust of Nikki Finke for an abesence of reason the way that there is an absence of reasons as to why Fox News is not to be trusted.

I stand corrected if he was not an employee then.

I still believe these thieves should be hammered to the fullest extent of the law. No different than me slipping a few Blu's in my coat and waliking out of Best Buy.

For me, it is not a matter of trust. It is a matter of spin. I am not on the soapbox for any televised news station, but the Fox journos and I apparently live in two separate and alternate realities.

you reveal your bias by mentioning and making assumptions any poster's interest in michael moore and bill maher.

O'Reilly is a documented liar and that's enough of a reason for me to question anything fox news says. I'm not saying anyone else lacks bias, but if you can't see the bias of fox news reporting... then you are either blind to it or not looking. Have you seen Glenn Beck lately?
