Red tails

Fans have been waiting to find out when we’d get to see Lucasfilm’s first non-Star Wars or Indiana Jones film in two decades and today we might have our answer. Anthony Hemingway, the director of The Tuskegee Airmen film Red Tails, produced by George Lucas, just tweeted that the film will be released in January 2012. With the recent news that Terence Blanchard will be scoring the film this month in Prague, that sounds just about right. Not that there’s a rush, Lucas has been developing the film for 20 years and it began shooting several years ago.

Trailer and Release Date for Producer George Lucas’ RED TAILS

The first trailer has been release for the action-drama Red Tails. Produced by George Lucas and directed by Anthony Hemingway, the movie is based on the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first all-black African-American combat squadron who fought in World War II. Red Tails has been in development for years but now it looks like it has finally become a reality and that reality is filled with cool aerial combat and grandiose speeches. No one in this trailer makes a statement that is not of monumental importance to the dignity of our nation and the history of the human race. But that’s what the trailer is designed to sell: action and gravitas but I hope the film is, at least where the dialogue is concerned, a little more grounded.

The film stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Brandon T. Jackson, and Nate Parker. Red Tails opens January 20, 2012.

The dialogue in that trailer was as stale as bread that had been left out in the sun for a month.



I think GL is one of the most overrated people in Hollywood, only 2 movies he directed are worth watching, American Graffiti and episode 4. And besides that he really hasn't directed much else. Sure Spielberg does crap but at least he tries to do new things. I'm also tired of GL constant complaining about waiting for the technology to catch up to his vision, gimme a break GL, perhaps you should just focus on you know...A STORY with REAL characters with REAL dialogue beside trying to make a CG mess of everything.

This movie is hardly getting any notice probably because of that reason alone. Not to mention from this forum. But movies like flyboys are ok. 99% of the members here are probably caucasian so not really surprising.

Oh please. Are you really suggesting that the movie isn't getting noticed because it's about black people? That's ridiculous. Plenty of movies that star a lot of black people get plenty of attention.

Actually, Lucas was on the Daily Show last night and he pretty much says thats the main reason it took so long to get off the ground. The other being he wanted technology to catch up to his vision. Geez, is that possible with lucas?
Anyways, he basically said that no one wanted to give him the money because there's no business model based on a 200 million dollar WWII movie with an all black cast. He said most movies with all black casts are either cheap comedies or Tyler Perry movies that are not all the expensive to produce either.
He also said if it does well at the box office. He's already got a prequel and a sequel written.

I'm so tired of Lucas and that excuse he always uses. Somebody should tell him its been a long time since he has been on the cutting edge of special effects. His "effects" are always so cold and sterile, not to mention they look dated 6 months after you see them. Even Tails looks cheap.

This is all i was saying. I don't understand why people think its crazy or i "need to get a clue". This is just the reality of african americans in hollywood. Again, wake up. From whatever wonderland you people are in.

EDIT: just watched an interview with Lucas on the Daily Show tonight, he said he has already written a prequel and sequel to Rad Tails. Man this guy is completely oblivious to the world around him, its quite something to watch him self promote and praise himself. What an arrogant SOB, he legitimately believes the world loves him to death.

Love him or hate him he is interesting to talk about.
