I didn't notice the heavy DNR, and I've seen it about 10 times on Blu (my 3-year-old can't get enough of it), but then I guess I haven't been scrutinizing this disc the way I do some of my others.

I think with DNR.. sometimes it must only become apparent on larger screens.. as i've only seen a few instances of it on my 40" Bravia... i guess it makes sense.. the bigger the screen.. the more detail you should be able to see...

I love that line! Me and my wife say that to our son all the time when we tell him goodbye.

Question

Actually, how are the US and UK versions compared to like quality, content, packaging and all that?

Because the US-version is Region Free, but the UK-version is Region B, so I have an option.

You and me both! Our DVD is scratched to heck from all the abuse, so it's time anyway.

Just watched it last night.

There is minor DNR & oddly no Edge enhancement. For the most part PQ throughout is smooth & there is some improvement in color reproduction but not night & day improvement over the DVD. Audio is definitely kicked up a notch. If your a fan, go for it but don't expect an immaculate HD transfer.

Elf (2003)

HD Video - 8/10
HD Audio Dolby Digital - 8/10
HD Audio Dolby TrueHD - 9/10

I FINALLY saw ELF for the first time. I normally HATE Will F, but this time, I enjoyed him.

I too, am thinking about getting this one.

I owned the DVD for a couple years before getting the BD a couple years ago and it is definitely a significant improvement that is worth the upgrade.

Picked it up last year. Great scene above. I like putting the star on top of the christmas tree - "I'll get it!"

I definitely will be upgrading this to BD soon. We watched our DVD copy last night and were blown away at how rough it looked. Haven't run across this too much with anything in my DVD library, but love this movie.
