aramis109, would an amplifier operating at its lowest end deliver the same flat response as it does in a mid-range setting? I agree with your statement, too much is too much, and I think that an amplifier's flatness across its full range would be a factor to consider in this discussion.
I have to admit- you're asking someone who's not even a novice on the subject. However, I would personally think that the response would be the same across the board. Maybe one of the guys with a lot more experience can answer, as well as drop in their opinion on whether 50% or more headroom is really gaining you anything vs. say 10-20%.

HALCRO!! WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT??!?!@?

WHAT!?! who can afford over $4000.00 for real home theater's elecetorics equipment and facy loudspeakers.

I consider a cinema theater THX 125 db is sound prefect. Most home theater is 90db but prefer 110db louder is too high. It’s problem less headroom.

A separate power amplifier is more headroom about 50%. It’ll back to normal sound 90db

That's my theory...

1. I can LOL price Halcro ....125 Db Is louder than most concerts ...( I do live sound for a living) even 110 Db in a home is really freakin loud ....I dont have a room big enough for 125 Db and sound good ...My Halcro is 250 WPC in 8 ohms ....buy an efficient speaker and you dont need as much power ...

Why not? I want much...my power amplifier all 7 channel 190 watts at 4 ohms.
Axiom: M80 v2 floorstanding speakers is 400 watts at 4 ohms.

Room: 15' x 11'
I can't fit 4 subwoofers in the room.

Opi, you had me going for a second...

That was a wonderfully coherent and understandable post on the previous page. It was a pleasure. But we are all glad to have you back.

My day just is not right without your posts in it!
