Just to echo some others here, definitely go with the monoprice HDMI cables. I recently ordered two 6-footers and with shipping I spent less than $12 total. Delivery only takes about 3 days. I would probably get the USB cable there too just for convenience.

Keeping in mind that I already own a stand alone Blu Ray player for playing my blu's should I get a PS3 for it's exclusive titles or not. I love the 360 for third party games like Madden but I love baseball and am fed up with the poor excuse that is the 2K franchise even after 3 years now it's nowhere near MLB The Show.

So is the Show and other PS3 exclusive titles worth the 549 before tax I would have to spend. 399.99 for the PS3, 79.99 for the Sony - HDMI Cable / USB 2.0 Cable Pack for PlayStation 3 and 59.99 for MLB 09 The Show or not?
I have a 360 and the panny dmp 30 and I just bought a 60 gig ps3 with MGS4 and hdmi cable off craig list for 300.00, will I use the ps3 as a blur ray player? I don't think so I compared it with the panny and thought the panny was better in the sound department, but the games that i bought solcom and killzone 2 are great so I feel with both systems I cant go wrong.

Thanks for all the reply's gang. I knew this would be the best forum to post this on. I'm 99 percent sure I'll do it now, it's just a matter of how much money I actually need and where to buy everything from. I will most likely have to use Gamestop or the new Game Swap store that just opened in town because I have two 360's. My Dad bought me a 2nd one while I was waiting for mine to be fixed and want to trade one of them in to help with cost.

Not true. Run it at full 1080p. Enjoy the beautiful increase in resolution!

Add this to your Monoprice HDMI order to save even more money! At $2 and 15 feet, you can charge your controller, have the cable out of sight, play while walking around the room and charging, or whatever. You can use them for your camera, controllers, PSP ect. It may be wise to purchase a few of them.

MLB The Show '09 runs at either your choice of 1280x720 with 2x anti-aliasing, or 1920x1080 with no anti-aliasing. Take your pick of the softer-but-cleaner look of 720p or the harsher-but-sharper look of 1080p with that title.

hey raz, check out your local blockbuster. the one near me has a package deal. you get the 40 gb ps3 12 free rentals hdmi cable and i think transformers ps3 game for like $370. but if you cant find that then paying $400 for the 80 gb is fine. the ps3 has some awesome exclusives and the show 09 alone is worth the ps3 purchase. also ps3 has some very good looking upcoming exclusives coming. good luck man.

This is good advice. The blockbuster package is actually a pretty good deal if you rent games.

There is also Costco (if you are a member). Great return policy and they have a combo for:

PS3 80GB, Extra DualShockŪ 3 Controller, HDMI Cable, Blu-Ray Remote for $479.

Your TV is 1080 native (that is, it is capable of displaying 1080 lines of vertical image information). If you send it a 720p signal, it will upscale (stretch) the image to fit your screen. If you give it a 1080p signal, it will show exactly what is sent to it.

Generally speaking, on any 1080 resolution TV, you always want to choose 1080 resolution to avoid stretching (and blurring) the image.

Ok, I am sure this has already been said several times, $79.99 for an HDMI cable is insane. Mine was around $5.

That said, a PS3 is a great gaming console. It is very undervalued in the market now (in terms of Sony being able to turn a profit). You already said why you want it, that says the answer is yes for you.

Every person has different wants and needs, and it seems you cant go wrong with the PS3.

I am always amazed at the terrible advertising that Sony does that makes people even think to ask this question.

yup that was true in the case of rainbow six vegas (1).it was much clearer on 720p .but that isn't true for (most of ) other games
