I totally agree. Throw in downloadable 1080P content, a Blu-ray recording/playback drive, and then now you are talkin!

How about just one device? Maybe they do it this way because they see consumers as an endless money pit. I know Im not. Are you?

I want one device and one device only. Until that happens, I will save my cash Besides, the PS3 works fine for me.
Well, yea. It is a marketing thing in two senses. One, how many average consumers do their research and think about what they really need for what they want to accomplish? Second, an all in one fully functional device would be very very expensive...now how many of those average consumers have money to buy one thing that replaces all of their individual devices that need each other to do everything(which they spent all of their money on already).
It's a combo of Corporations preying on uninformed/apathetic consumers, and those consumers staying uninformed/apathetic.
The customer is always right, as long as enough of you make enough noise. Tell them what you want and they will give it to you...eventually.

I just want to be able to stream content directly to/from my PS3 and Mac(G5 not intel) like you can with WMP 11.

AFAIK it's real bad for HD. Not enough processing power let alone wireless HD streaming. Which is why I am postponing purchasing mediacenter.

Not too sure about that. I think it goes up to 1080i. I will have to look later.
Quoting the tech specs:

"Video formats supported:
"H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps)
"iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels or 640 by 480 pixels
"MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps)"

Given the file sizes that downloadable content is likely to be at, I doubt having it at 1080i is a smart move, or even feasible.
