Wrong, dude. There is TONS of compression still. Uncompressed 1080p video would take up SOOO much space.

But yeah, when things are sourced from pure digital, they're going to look clean and nice. From there, it's just a question of the look of the style of the animation and the workmanship that went into production.

The earlier shorts on Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1 looked a bit rough, Here's the explanation from this sites review:

These shorts may have been stored on analog devices, additionally.
