I have owned these on Blu-ray since 2010. I like them better than I do the 2006 DVDs, which were the first home media releases of the remastered versions of Star Trek: TOS.

At least on this one, we have both versions of the SFX shots, plus better subtitle options.

I may be one of the few, but I don't like the new SFX shots for the ship(s). They don't blend with the rest of the show. They should've used ship models.

The rest of the new effects blend nicely (e.g. planets on the viewscreen), but some original effects are quite good too and could've been kept.

Well, that's the beauty of the Blu-ray version. You can choose to watch the episodes with the original 1960s SFX shots.

To each his/her own. I prefer the newer effects. I have seen the older ones since 1970 or so, and I honestly like the more modern, more detailed, and more dynamic effects. That's just me, though.
