Anyone else have trouple playing Match Point on a US PS3 I get a message saying the video cannot be played(80029946)

Uhh...yeah. Same here. I just put it in and it doesn't work!

I wonder if the movie has a PAL or 1080i/50hz intro. The newer PS3 firmwares won't allow the trailers to be skipped and prevent playback. That might be the cause.

Not according to my TV. I have an LG BH200 and it played fine. It said the intro was 60hz. I have no idea why it wouldn't play, if it is region free.

I recently got an Aussie PS3 cheap here so I have both an A and B machine, I could test this as well and see if I get the same issue. Is this a good movie?

It depends, do you like old Woody Allen films. If so, its very good (it got nominated for an oscar for best original screenplay as well).

Are you sure the US LG BH200 doesn't output 50hz content as 60hz?

Yes...because I have 50hz content and my TV shows it at 50hz.

Actually, I hate Woody Allen and that's why I liked it. It's very much NOT a Woody Allen movie.

I noticed the Australian retailers have Match Point available for preorder with a release date of June 07, 2010. I was under the impression that this was already released in Australia? I'm thinking of importing it but I am concerned about the play issues in this thread. I have a region free player, would I have any problems with Match Point? I would just order the French release, but it has forced French subtitles.

Actually that's the same old release. They are just reducing its price for a few weeks starting June 7 as part of one of their regular sales.

Could someone please confirm whether this can be played on a region A player or not. The thread started off so promising and it seemed like it was definitely going to be region free and then a few comments about playback problems on a region A player and then nothing.

I LOVE this film and would really appreciate a definitive answer.

One member has entered that it is region free on the database entry here. You could always PM them for confirmation or just to ask how they confirmed it. That way you'd be 100% certain.

Veronica PMed me so I decided to test again. It worked on my sony 560 and my PS3 on latest firmware. also

you can see the region free label on the back of the case and the disc itself. They might have changed the disc and made it region locked since the original release. You can check you copies and report back findings for those that cannot get the disc to play.
