Don't automatically assume that all movies are intentionally made for a specific rating in mind. It's entirely possible that people might make a movie as they see fit and see what the ratings board feels.

Bottom line is that unless someone speaks out and tells us that things were cut to give this a PG-13 rating, I guess we'll never know.

However, if I have to sit through another ADR mess like Die Hard 4.0, I'm going to be very, VERY pissed.

And yes, a rating does not define a movie. For people skeptical of TDK/DC/Comics/Action films, look at LOTR or Star Wars..they were all great...Indiana Jones trilogy was also PG-13 I think. So give this movie a chance.

I'm just hoping for 2 things.

1. The uncut version appears on Blu. So far, it looks like a shot of a topless woman has been cut. If that's all that was cut, fine. But if violence or language was cut, I want to see it on the Blu.

2. It's better than the TV show (which shouldn't be difficult).

I'm not crazy, and you're comparing a network TV show to a movie. I don't think you get the point.

So you are not going to see the movie because it's rated pg-13. That's it, that's all you need to right off a movie?

I'm actually going to watch the movie before I judge it-- just me

I really don't want to see it anyway. If it gets great word of mouth or something or I'm bored with someone who wants to see it then maybe I will, but I'm not in any rush. I just don't think it should be rated PG-13. Maybe nothing was cut, but that's typically not the case. A movie like this that gets a PG-13 is normally cut by the studio to get a bigger box office cut.

There is a certain realistic freedom that comes with an R rating. It's not worrying about barriers.
Well, then I hope you don't watch the other Terminator films. Especially the original.

Cause they're hardly briming over with gore and language.

No, it wouldn't. There's nothing in the original Terminator worthy of an R.

I'd rather they just make the best movie possible, rather than simply adding in additional foul language, gore, and gratuitous nudity just to pad the film up for an R rating. Who cares what the rating is.

I agree. I think the original would most definitely be rated R if it came out today. There is plenty of violence, profanity, various nude scenes, and oh yeah, the scene where the Terminator rips a guys heart out. I can think of other movies that have come out in the last few years without all those ingredients that have still gotten an R rating.

+1.

You should re-watch it, cause you seem to remembering another movie.

Most of the violence is off camera. And there's no gratuitous nudity.

I don't think so. I can recall more than one scene showing the Terminator killing police officers that were actually shown on screen (lots more weren't shown), part of the scene where he ripped the guy's heart out did happen off screen, but part of it was on screen and in the end he was shown standing there with a bloody arm and a heart in his hand, and there was nudity involved in a sex scene. Granted, not the most graphic sex scene out there, but a nude sex scene nonetheless. There's also the Terminator killing innocent bystanders in the night club, again some happened off screen, some happened on screen, and the afore-mentioned use of language. Definitely not the roughest movie out there, but IMO it still has enough content that happens on screen to pull an R rating.

I'll pass because it's not directed by James Cameron.

I agree with this. I'm not really sure how others are saying that the first two were super-violent, gory, or explicit or overt in their nudity. They were tweeners at best between PG-13 and R ratings.

In my opinion. No flame intended.

People need to realize though that most of the action is this is gonna be humans fighting robots so that is why they will get away with a pg-13 rating and still have it graphic/violent. Atleast that is what I'm hoping.

A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous.

This is from the mpaa website, as you can read it says a pg13 can have a lot of bloody violence as long as it is not continuous. Nudity and swearing are also allowed. Go see the film if you want but please do not judge a film before release on it's rating. I for one am going to see this as the trailers look better than T3 did as a whole.

But when we talk about Terminator, the whole war with the Machines is the most violent part because they are killing all the humans that are left. I'm pretty sure alot of people would be cussing so much and all the violence should be really bloody. This movie should be R but the studios want it to be "family friendly" and they want to sell some kids action figures. God, these people should already be rich that make these movies. Give the fans what they want you money grubbing sons of b*tches.
