I'll agree with whoever said Raging Bull (goosebumps), but throw in Kill Bill Vol.2 as worthy of second or third runner up.

Crap...it was me.

But the answer to the question is Raging Bull.
Technically, they CAN be called opening CREDITS since the production is GIVING CREDIT to those that are being listed in the title sequence.

As for my vote on the best OPENING CREDITS?

Definitely, by a long shot, these two take the trophy without anyone coming close...

The best one by far. I have watched this multiple times since seeing the movie. Can't wait for this on blu.

WATCHMEN

Just because the opening has a story of its own. Very creative with a retro touch.

Reservoir Dogs is a classic.

Original Dawn of the Dead and the chaos in the tv studio is really good too.

Not best but I like Footloose's opening credits with the dancing feet.

X-Men. When Patrick Stewart started talking I knew at that moment that this was going to be a great movie. X2 was good also but did not have the same affect on me. Another movie opening I loved was The Rock. Michael Bay's best movie.

I'm surprised no one mentioned The Fall. This is what came to mind the second I read the title to the thread.

I prefer NO opening credits. Just show me the title and lets get on with it. But if I was going to name one it would be Eyes Wide Shut.

Then your answer should be "There Will Be Blood." About as direct of an intro as there ever was.
