Every record usually needs a good cleaning at least once to remove any built up residues, tiny particles from an original paper sleeve, etc. This is something your local hi-fi dealer may do for you at $1/pop and it's well worth it. Just make sure you have one of the anti-static sleeves at the ready so they don't put your nice new clean record into the same old sleeve.

If there is a printed inner sleeve I keep it the same but if it's a generic one or those flimsy plastic record baggies, I have a pile of anti-static at the ready.

-Turntable with Dust Cover
-Carbon-Fiber Record Cleaner Brush
-My First record (Metallica - Death Magnetic)

i still need to order some outer plastic sleeves for the jacket. i think thats all i need for now. anything else i'm missing?? sorry i'm still a newbie
I always supplement whatever inner sleeve the record comes with with an anti-static one. So, record inside anti-static sleeve inside the inner sleeve the record came with, inside the outer. Rotate each sleeve by 90 degrees for maximum dust protection.

That's what I do too - I only throw away the inner if its just a paper sleeve, then I sit the LP 180 degrees inside the outer cover.

Wait til you go used record shopping and digging in the crates. FUN FUN FUN!

Then cleaning up all the treasures you found for a $1 to $3 a pop. Cleaning is a good time and you can get creative with it. A 6pk of nice beer or bottle of wine make it more fun - just dont scratch the records. ha!
