Default wife situation

Just a show of hands of members whose wives come in the way of big purchases.

depends....i've already told my wife when i start to purchase my HT, she has no say in what i get or how much it costs.....the only reason i was able to do this is b/c my side business money is paying for it and since i'm the one that does all the work, i get to say how it's spent.

before my HT is bought, she's gonna have the house resided and insulated and the main level bathroom redone....so i get to spend some money on myself for once!!!

My wife is the bread winner and we keep all of our bills seperately. I work, but she makes a good bit more than I do. So, we keep everything seperate, I moved in with her into her house, so she has continued to pay the mortgage herself. We only have the refi'd mortgage as a joint debt, everything else I have is seperate from her. This means seperate bank accounts and thus seperate money to spend. I pay for some of the mutual items (groceries, diapers, etc...) and she pays for the electric, gas, water, etc... Works out real well and I never have to tell her what I want to do or buy and neither does she, as long as we don't sacrifice any necessities or things for the kids. If all that is taken care of, and always is, i can spend whatever extra $ I have without worry....

Thankfully, not mine. She doesn;t even care if I tell her before I buy something.

Examples:
In '06 she went to the grocery store on a Saturday morning and when she got home I told her I bought a 50" plasma. We hadn't even discussed getting a new TV at that point. Her response was "cool".

In 2000, 3 weeks before we got married (and were paying for our own wedding), I got home and told her I put a deposit down on a BMW motorcycle but I would cancel the order if she wanted. She asked why I would want to cnacel it.

This past Friday I wanted a new lens for my SLR. She didn't ask me why or how much, she jsut said order it. When I told her we could make it my birthday present, she said "That's boring...it's not happening".

I could go on an on. From my speakers to buying 2 cars in 4 hours...she never blinks. And we have zero credit card debt.

My wife doesn't complain too much.

We keep our bills and accounts separate. Her credit rating sucks...I don't want it ruining mine...Basically I pay just about everything: mortgage, taxes, insurance, food and most utilities. She works, chips in here & there but its never enough. Doesn't save any money either. We don't have kids or car payments.. .... I'm always running short. Anytime I bring it up, it turns into an argument...I usually don't bother anymore....
