It shouldn't matter which set of terminals you have your speaker wires plugged into, as long as the jumpers are in place. What we mean about being out of phase, is that you need to make sure the side of the speaker wire that's plugged into the red plug on your receiver is also plugged into the red plug on the speaker, and the same with the black. If you have one side of your speaker wire plugged into the red plug on the receiver, but into the black plug on the speaker, then the speaker is wired out of phase, and this will most definitely affect the bass of the speaker.

Well the only Klipsch I currenty own is the Sub-10, love it so much, bought
a Sub-12 for a house I spend the weekends at. Both kick.

Hope to upgrade the rest one day.
