I have to say, I pretty much watched all of Battlestar on SciFi in HD on my Plasma 52" tv. Really good picture for digital tv. Then my friend brought over the dvd's so we could rewatch them.... URGGG! The picture was aweful, blurry and soft and unimpressive audio. If your a true fan of Battlestar, and have an HDTV with your blu-ray (which I really hope you do lol) the Blu-ray version is a must after seeing it on the same tv on DVD. (we played a recorded HD episode - the last episode I think it was I saved from Comcast SciFiHD and played the dvd at the same time, and switched between the two inputs on my tv, and there is just no comparison between the two. You really just cringe at watching the DVD one when coming from the HD version). And if the Blu-ray is way better than the HD broadcast version, its a big MUST. As a huge fan of an amazing tv show, I've already started putting money aside for this one for sure. The audio for this show alone will rock the house!!
If you are a fan, and have the dvd's and are going to keep them, your really missing out on some amazing video quality and detail. the HD version of this show really takes it to another level, so the blu will take it a notch above that. I CANT WAIT!!!

That's right, there's a cyclon compartment right in the center. You can see it better on some of the other images of the packaging that are about.

+1

The DVD's are shamefully rotten, even with excellent upconversion. Of the DVDs I have, Razor is the only one that I would say actually looks really good, for DVD. The season 1 HD DVD release was a REVELATION, like seeing the show for the first time all over again(those who claim the pic quality was little better than the DVDs are either about blind or insane.) Too bad the release was so problematic, with scratched up discs and encoding errors. Hopefully, Universal has got their act together for this time around.

'The Face of the Enemy'
Yes, because it sheds some light on a plot that comes to fruition in the second half of season 4

I seriously considered buying this set, till this problem with the missing web episodes came up. Now I will wait for the COMPLETE series box set. Bound to come out later.

Yes, I think I made an excellent choice to sell my DVDs while they are worth something.

Doubtful. They're called webisodes for a reason. Do you honestly think they'll re-release an entire boxset to put a couple (ok more like a dozen) webisodes on there?

I really doubt they are going to go back and re-release the series again, just to include the webisodes. sorry.

Maybe the missing webisodes will be made available as a BD-Live extra, or maybe as a mail-in offer for a disc version?

Hmmm... for those not thinking they look that good on DVD, I can see your point. But, lets not forget that this show was shot with blown-out contrast, heavily subdued colors, and LOTS of stylized grain and diffuse lighting. The end result is NOT going to produce a "Discovery HD Theater" looking image no matter what format you watch them on. Ive come to expect this from the series. So, even on blu-ray you're gonna get grain, subdued colors, diffuse lighting, etc, etc. They'll look better on blu-ray but be realistic.

Just keep your expectations in-line with how the show was filmed.

Anybody know when it will be released for region 2 (Europe)?
I've only seen it listed for region 1, which I'm guessing won't play on my PS3.

According to amazon.co.uk, it will be released in September.

I've only seen season 1 of this series, and i've been waiting for the blu-ray release so i could see the rest. I'm glad i won't have to wait for a season by season release.

Now they need to announce the ORIGINAL Galactica on blu, including the little known and underrated follow-up series, Galactica 1980.

Given what this set costs, I think they picked an excellent time to release thiis. At least for me it's a great time. There are very few titles that I want to buy between now and then. Just Weeds Season 4 and Ghostbusters for June. I can't remember exactly for July, but only a couple titles there also. That will take some of the sting off my wallet.

As far as the missing webisodes go, I am with the people who don't believe that Universal is going to do a re-release anytime in the near future just to add those to the set. Also, they could easily provide those via BD-Live if they find out that there is enough demand for them. I can't wait to finally get to see the series in HD. My cable provider doesn't offer the Sci-Fi channel in HD so the best I've been able to do is watch the DVDs upscaled.
