I liked it. I don't know if I would put it with his best films but it's definitely better and more competent than some of the other films he was putting out around that time like Double Team, Knock Off, and Universal Soldier: The Return. I think you'll enjoy it if you like movies about the French Foreign Legion.

damnit!! I wish they would have replaced Unisol 2 or Maximum risk instead of Knock off... I really wanted that one. Although I still love Double team to death so I'm happy there

That's usually how Mill Creek plays the game.

I do believe they dropped Knock Off from the set and replaced it with Double Team.

It's definitely one of his best DTV's. At the time it came out, I actually believe it was the most expensive DTV in the US. The budget was around $30 million. However, I do think it was originally slated to go to theaters but then scrapped after it tanked overseas.

Damn. I really wanted Knock off. Wish they would replace Maximum Risk or Universal 2. Should all be unreleased blus. Knock off and Double team should've been on there. Sucks.

I read on another forum that there was a problem with the Knock Off transfer or something. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Agreed! I remember people in the theater trashing the hell out of it when it was over.

Van Damme hasn't made a decent movie for 21 years-Sudden Death.

JCVD was amazing. Have you seen that one? Still think he could've easily gotten an Oscar Nom for that. He was just as good as Rourke in The Wrestler that year. He's also made a few decent dtvs. Nothing like his hits in his prime, but pretty good. Of course, He's made a ton of turds since then as well.

I think the problem with JCVD's DTV output is that whilst precious few of them are "turds" (compared to, say, Steven Seagal's dire post-Warner catalogue) none of them are truly memorable either. His last great movie was 1996's Maximum Risk. Legionnaire and Replicant were good, too (probably because they were both intended as theatrical releases).

Unisol Regeneration says otherwise.

Yeah, that and DOR were both great. I don't classify those as typical DTV's, especially since DOR got a tiny theatrical release. I still think Regeneration should have gone to theaters too considering how strong it was. Those are far superior to pretty much everything else in the that medium.

Agreed. It should have been, but on the other hand if as someone else has said, there's an issue with the transfer then it's for the best.

I do. Knock Off is highly entertaining.

I have to strongly disagree on this, it's been closer to a decade since he last made a decent movie. And that was Unisol: Regeneration.

Replicant was great, I caught for the first time on the Sci-Fi channel 15 years ago. But again Unisol: Regeneration says hello.

Unisol: Regen is one of my favorite JCVD movies.

With the exception of your love of DOR, which I absolutely hated, I agree.

Yeah, it seems to be a love or hate movie. Personally, I loved the sort of David Lynch vibe that it had. Plus, it was kind of a genre mash-up, which I thought was pretty cool.

I thought all of these were pretty decent efforts from Van Damme in the last 10 years or so.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration
Assassination Games
Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning
6 Bullets

I also remember liking Wake of Death, but I need to re-watch it. Haven't seen it since it came out back in 04.

Still need to check out The Shepherd. I want to see that one mostly because Scott Adkins is in it.

For those of you, who don't know; TimeCop was actually the most successful movie in Van Damme's career.
