Your assertion that VS created a collectible is nothing more than that: an assertion. Beyond that, what proof do you have that VS profited from inflated prices?

VS answers honestly if asked about their limited releases and repressings. When Sweet Sugar and Red Mob were released, VS said that standard editions were likely to come out the following year. And, as others have pointed out, when a standard edition is going to follow after a given title's LE slipcover sells out, VS is up front about it.

If VS were REALLY in the habit of manufacturing demand, then we would already have had a repressing of The Executioner, Part. II blu,. Or they would have suddenly come across a stash of them to sell, or some mysterious seller would inexplicably have a large supply on Amazon or Ebay.

It's not a knock on any label- I'm merely stating it's silly to point at Dark Force for creating a "collectible" when others labels have and do the same as well.
Dark Force literally wrote this on Facebook. "It's not getting repressed like the other titles and we want to keep a good amount of them for ourselves" they are clearly going to inflate the price to profit off of them. They will randomly show up on the Code Red big cartel or Booberrys eBay page or The Exterminators Amazon store for much higher price soon and people very stupid people will buy it.

I feel like people don't see what is happening here. It's very concerning that there are people commenting on the facebook in support of DF. Like, how stupid are you?

And the thing is, DF is transparent and stupid about it. And people still want this thing and support this turd.

Didn’t take advantage? Their first disc was “recalled” they got so much word of mouth and exposure from people talking about them straight out of the gate

That’s even worth more than selling the disc at inflated prices, the fact you got one for $1,and myself one for free ( via ordering other product) shows that the whole recall notice wasn’t even needed. It probably would have moved a few hundred without the announcement and nobody would have even noticed it was no longer around

So the movie was recalled and they gave it away for free instead of selling it on fleabay for 80 bucks and somehow that's taking advantage? So in your opinion when a movie is going to be recalled a company shouldn't make an announcement to try and get rid of the stock?

Congratulations turning this thread about the shortfalls of the Dark Force disc round to Arrow. You could have chosen dozens of other instances but couldn't help yourself...

Signed.
DF burned me once, no more pre orders.
But if they do a title I want justice, I will buy.

Same for any label. Hell, even Dorado

Oddly I have the old cover art version of Offerings w/o numbering, but mine came from Amazon and doesn't appear blurry to me, other than using a poor quality capture image on the rear cover. Front is very sharp as is text on rear and spine.

Maybe the original ones sold from their site actually were home printed?

There is still nudity and gore, just not nearly as much as the uncut version.

If Arrow or anyone else releases a film sourced uncut version on disc I'll gladly buy it. Until then I see this DF release as superior to a VHS rip even if cut, due to it actually looking like (very damaged) film.

And yes I chose Arrow for the Apartment example, because it just goes to show that even a respected international label can act shady or give obviously incomplete/misleading info to sell more copies (the goal) , and it's a great example to use actually. IIRC wasn't the first time that happened with Arrow, either. Did not mean to trigger anyone [emoji3]

I'm pretty sure every new retailer/company etc would prefer their first offering be a well received product that people enjoy as opposed to a mistake they have to pull from sale and essentially give away. Would a restaurant rather have a successful opening night selling delicious food, or close early due to a kitchen fire?

I'd like to believe DF made an honest mistake and didn't realize their version was drastically cut - it's unfortunate for them it happened so early out of the gate, but stuff happens. To varying degrees the right thing to do would've been to apologize for the oversight and offer refunds to dissatisfied customers (pie in the sky, I know), "recall," the release and refuse to sell it, or own up to the fact it's a cut version but stand by your product as you can only really supply this version as it's the only print you had access to.

The issue is that DF is doing everything in half measure - you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you consider your version of the film to be a complete version (as they seem to do by quoting the legwork Ruined inadvertently did for them), then stand by your product and continue to sell as normal. If it's not a release that's up to par, apologize for your honest mistake, pull the sales, and promise to do better next time. By offering a half-hearted defense and then essentially announcing you'll be creating a false scarcity and becoming profiteers of your own product, you're basically taking the worst half of both of those options.

I havent opened it, what part on the outside looks bad to you (other than a poor image on the back)?

UPC code shows evidence of being inkjet printed, BTW. But front cover, text, etc don't look blurry to me.

I was expecting my copy of Offerings that i bought from Diabolik a few weeks ago to look like a legit bootleg based on the comments here but surprisingly the front cover looks great and the back art image is slightly blurred but nothing to raise an eyebrow about IMO.

So, I called absolute bullshit on Dark Force's dubious claim that "no one was interested in HOUSE THAT VANISHED until we released it" and was basically physically threatened and then banned from their Facebook page before I could even respond. Classy dudes, that bunch.

Usually, I do not like to publically criticize other labels, but this debacle was just too much for me to take anymore, and this comment was the last straw.

Love it, Ruined takes the opportunity to defend a bootleg and still manages to trash Arrow in the process (and about one of their best releases).
