I did it once before: bought the US Sony release of Orlando, which unusually was region locked (not a problem for me). Then a bit after that they released an identical version over here, but region B. Now I have the UHD, I want to get rid of the US disk but of course the UK one is tons cheaper over here and even though the US one is OOP and goes for silly money, no one wants it

Holy Spider now down to Ł10.99 on HMV.
However looks like the US Blu-ray has more extras as in addition to the Abbasi/Amirpour Q&A it features: ![]() Q&A with moderator Reza Safai at Laemmle Town Center Q&A at IFC Center with Ali Abbasi Interviews with Ali Abbasi, Jacob Jarek, Mehdi Bajestani, Sol Bondy and Zar Amir-Ebrahimi Last edited by CelestialAgent; 08-01-2023 at 03:42 PM. |

I saw Close at a local cinema the other night, and as far as the Blu-ray goes, I think I'm going to skip it. It's very much a film of two halves, and while the first one was wonderful, the focus changes after a key event, and I found what followed to be far less interesting. I felt similarly about Oppenheimer, which I saw a couple of nights prior (although they're two very different films otherwise).

Do we know if it ever came in that sort of case? Would have been around the time MUBI switched over to scanavos and UTSL changed over.

I'm honestly not sure. I know they've since gone back and changed the cases for the first few releases like Border, Under the Silver Lake and Suspiria, which I also ordered recently and all came with slips.

Putting a slipcover with a front and back identical to the inner sleeve on a Scanavo case has got to be the pointless thing ever.

The MUBI BD is a revelation compared to the SPC. Fantastic encoding and all-around gorgeous to look at. Thank you MUBI, this is a real treat of a physical media release. They‘ve really stepped up their game after having some disappointing early BD releases like Suspiria but now they‘ve become beautifully consistent. Aftersun also looks phenomenal. At this point I'm looking forward to all of their coming BDs and hope there’s more to come, maybe even some catalogue titles and more UHDs. |

Wow, I've been pondering blind-buying the Blu-Ray for months and now I'm glad I didn't

Seems strange that the first back catalogue (if you can call it that) UHD upgrade is of a title they released only 10 months earlier. Why not just release them simultaneously? It would be nice if they went back further and upgraded Annette and Suspiria.

Seems to be Universal’s modus operandi now too.
